3010 Tasting Notes
Like you, my tea cupboard…and counter…and basket…is overflowing, but I could’t stand being in a different (urban) shopping venue and not picking up a couple of things I couldn’t find at home.
This was cheap, a plus, and tasty. It is exactly what it proposes to be: good black tea, vanilla, cinnamon. Haven’t tried it with milk yet, but I’m thinking that’ll “nog” it up for Christmas.
Shopping opportunities notwithstanding, it’s good to be home. After the past few months, I think home is one one of my favorite words in the whole world.
Review’s up here; t’was tasty: http://www.itsallabouttheleaf.com/2589/tea-review-the-necessiteas-orange-marzipan/
This smells heavenly dry. I thought it might be a little tricky to steep it strong enough to get the chocolate without bitter-izing the green, especially with hot water out of McDonald’s tap, but it balanced out nicely. Extremely tasty—I’ll hunt this one down again.
This is my second experimental tasting of this one, and I don’t know what I did the first time (overmeasured and oversteeped, probably) but even then I had good things to say about it.
This time around, I lowered water temp and steeping time considerably and I believe it’s even better. Fruit-caramelly. Yummy.
What’s funny about this one, at least to me, is its source: the Flying J Truckstop on I-44 just east of Joplin MO. (Revolution just seemed a little upscale for the venue.) And be ready for a long wait if you ask just to buy the teabag…that really throws the clerk!
No particular standout characteristic, but it’s smooth and pleasant. Nice on its own, didn’t need dairy to tone anything down.
Another local-store serendipity; this is rarely in stock here!
If you did a side-by side taste test with real bona fide eggnog, I don’t think they’d be very close. Truthfully, this reminds me more of iced sugar cookies. (And what’s wrong with that?) Sweet, pleasant, just a hint of spice, great with milk; and before you know it, there I am staring at an empty tumbler and wishing I’d brought another bag with me.
Husband is the primary grocery shopper at our house and tried a run to a different store a little closer to new house. Glad he did—I’ve had trouble finding Bigelow’s Christmas blends, and he knows how much I like them, so he snappished up a box to surprise me.
I still don’t think this one tastes anything like a cookie, but the lemon-ginger balance is just perfect, especially from underneath a soft blankie in a comfy chair on a clear evening when the whole block is gently lit with Christmas lights.
When I first tried 52 Teas’ malted genmaicha, I commented that it was like drinking the inside of a Whoppers.
This was like drinking the inside AND the outside of a whole carton of Whoppers! Not sure if it’s the cure for a chocolate craving or if it’s making them worse :)
Nice end-o’-day treat following a little too much snacking at work and a little too much hubby-made pizza at home (if you haven’t tried Pastorelli pizza sauce and like spicky-kicky tomato, it’s worth the search).
Sweet, a little thick, and not picky in personality. Bag stays in the cup. In retrospect, should have had the pizza chef save me the juice out of the pineapple bits to add.
