Okay tasting tea, less sweet than expected. Drinking it as part of the CommuniTea box. It’s not terrible and not something I would go out and buy a bag of. Just okay. Has a sort of salty aftertaste, not really getting the alcohol flavor other people are getting, maybe it’s sort of bourbon like, but not out and out rubbing alcohol. It’s a tea that doesn’t commit to anything.

Trying this category of green tea for the first time, and I’m kicking myself for not trying it sooner! It tastes like a rice bowl with seaweed furikake in the very best way. It’s almost curbing my appetite by some sort of magic? In a blind sniff test I wouldn’t be able to discern it from dinner (again, in the very best of ways) and it’s fascinating me. I don’t know if I’m just suggestable but it almost tastes somewhat like a beef broth to me. I’m going to try more of this in the future for sure!

Cracking open another oolong and what an amazing experience this is. The delicate scent of white peach and buttery oolong. My favorite way to drink this tea is to breathe deeply over the cup to maximize the peach flavoring, which is done so naturally in this tea. Oftentimes with flavored teas I worry about the acrid taste of a chemical flavoring, but it’s a beautiful and natural tasting flavor. If pressed, if I only could have one tea in my cupboard for the rest of my life, I would have to say it would be this one.

Oolongs are categorically perhaps my favorite tea and this is no exception. I really enjoyed this green oolong and its buttery notes. It was a bit astringent on the aftertaste on the first steeping but subsequent steepings took care of any lingering bitterness. So excited to have had this sample and will soon be purchasing more!

Another sampler sip down. Loved it especially on a second steeping where any astringency was steeped out and only the malty goodness was left behind. I think of all breakfast teas this may be my favorite. It’s somewhat reminiscent of Yorkshire tea but much less prone to astringency. On further reflection it’s like lapsang souchong’s much milder cousin, and I love a tea that tastes like kindling.

Wanted to try this sampler as it’s not really something I would buy on its own. I wouldn’t exactly call it Teavana (I’ve had some heinous experiences with their teas) but it’s still reminiscent of a car air freshener in similar ways. Not getting any of the fruit notes that I smelled in the sample pack. Weird. Other than plain mate I think I’ll stick to chocolate mates now. Incidentally, Teavana had a glorious chocolate mate and I miss it every day.

Fairly good tea! Felt good on this very rainy day, almost like a soup (I’ve been really into this Turmeric broth lately, so this feels like a bit more of that). It was all at once very savory due to the turmeric and ginger, but also sweet. It tasted like the most delicous way of caring for one’s health!

In the tin, as one might imagine, the main scent was that of turmeric and ginger.
It also paired wonderfuly with the last of my chili powder pistachios!

I had this lovely tea at a meetup with my local lolita* fashion community! I love myself a ginger tea in any form and if I had to choose, white tea is certainly my favorite.

The ginger came through fairly strong (as one would expect) both in the tin and in the cup, but as most good flavored white tea blends, the ginger surprisingly didn’t overshadow the flavor of the white tea itself. The use of what seemed to be a white peony blend should be the reason for that. I am so terribly sad it seems that The Cultured Cup seems to have discontinued this blend. I am absolutely up for recommendations regarding substitutes.

I had three cups of this, and even though the pot went cold after cup 2, I still went for it. I tend to dislike rooibos in its many incarnations, however the mint really mellows it out for me. Not that rooibos isn’t mellow by nature, I just taste a sweet earthiness to it that I find unpleasant without some mint. The chamomile rounds out the entire blend and doesn’t compete with the rooibos for the base, and compliments it rather well.

The scent in the tin is more or less the characteristic apple scent of chamomile and sweet mint with the warmth of the rooibos coming through as well. Perfectly balanced as all things should be! Scent in the cup is more of the same.

All in all, this is certainly a tea I reach for at night, especially when I’m feeling a bit under the weather.
