1403 Tasting Notes
This really really nice milk oolong with cream and lovely floral notes is taking me now into a still very flavourful fifth steeping. Perfect tea to be drinking on a sunny warm day. The weather seems to think it is spring here. I’m certain it’ll snap to its senses soon and plunge us directly into the deepfreeze we in February deserve and look forward to.

Oooo, yum, yes for chocolatey puerh. Steeped this multiple times throughout the day and it was very delicious. Occasionally, the fishy notes of the shou peeked through. The vanilla for me though was absent.

I am revisiting the teas that I had packed up and sent Sil’s way at the tea festival. Actually, the box that I had collected them all in is sitting in my line of traffic at home, so I thought I’d sample them before I put them away, if the putting away happens.
This is one delicious tea blend. I think I may have added the slightest bit too much leaf to my steeping cup which has resulted in a teeny bit of astringency that normally I don’t detect with the almond, pastry, light raisin fruitiness. Boom—solved that problem by having 85% chocolate alongside. Delicious.
From my sample basket, most likely from Sil.
This most definitely has both a pear scent and taste, but I am not loving it. There’s some sort of bitter unlovable after taste and leaves my tongue with a sort of sickly feeling. Imitation flavours? I don’t know. The tea in general is bringing on both a headache and a tummy upset that I didn’t initially have. Perhaps I used too much dry leaf in making this.
Thank you, Sil, for letting me try this one. For me, it’s a big nope.

Goodness gracious, this is some seriously fine tea! Fine, as in my cup of tea.
The search for a decent night’s sleep continues between screeching baby next door and my own issues, screeching or otherwise. Exhaustion pitted against rest are such big big things for me right now, looming over all else really, because sleep and rest play such a part in the rest of my health and well being, especially as things are now. It feels rather life and death and rather desperate at times. So that’s the thing.
I continue with various interventions to block out baby next door. Sleep continues to be broken despite my efforts. That said, when I get seven or more hours of sleep, even while divided up in three parts, I consider that a win and when I finally do emerge, I do so as more fully human. So yay.
When I stumbled towards the kettle this morning, I reached for this one in the bag Sil had packed up for me at the tea festival here. Score! This is one divine tea. The scent of the steeped leaf is heavenly. There’s that Yunnan breadiness going on, a bit of prune or stone fruit, a bit of chocolate. All in all, just splendid and I will greedily gobble up all my sips and gulps until the last of my sample is gone.
And then, as I was just checking my email, I noticed that YS is having a sale, and yep, I did the thing. And another miracle, my credit card cooperated.
Sil, you enabler. Much appreciation for sending this my way. Thank you!
All in all, it’s a pretty perfect day here already.

I think I may have ordered this one. Or some version of it. How many infusions?
Do any other neighbours have this concern, perhaps you can confer with them?
Three infusions, though things faded out after the first one.
Other neighbours, nope, just the two of us are adjoined.
You may as well. I would. :)
The weather is doing the same thing in Michigan.
It was so nice out, I just had to go for a walk!! :)
