50 Tasting Notes
This is my second tasting of this, and I quite enjoy it. It’s vegetal and smooth, not bitter. I’m going to try a second steep to see how well it fares… So second steeping, not as vegetal and it’s quite sweet! So was not expecting that! Second steeping i used boiling water and steeped for 35 seconds. I’m impressed!
It is beyond freezing out today -21C or -13 F, but feels like -34 in both lol I definitely needed something warm to boot my mind out of the cold and on to a hot island and this totally did the trick. Today it’s more coconut’y’ than usual with a hint of raspberry. Delicious!
Preparation
This is one of my favourite Rooibos teas. It’s minty, it’s chocolately, what is not to love?! It has a light earthy taste to it, and the longer you steep it (accidentally for me) the more clay like it tastes but it’s not overwhelming due to the mint in it. Wonderful tea to sip on when it’s freezing outside. Always warms me up!
Preparation
I’m trying to stay away from black tea for a bit to regulate the ph levels in my body so it was a Rooibos day for me. This particular Rooibos is REALLY earthy and very clay like, it reminds me of play doh—not that I make a habit of eating/drinking play doh. Meh, it’s not amazing. I’ve had better.
Preparation
Love the play doh reference! Ha! Had tea with my 3 grandsons couple of days ago…wish you could see the photo…sooo cute. Each got a tea set in a special box from their Uncle for Christmas and they are so proud of them. I ordered Monkey Fart tea just for the name to give to them. Think we need a boys catagory or tea’s with great cool names.
This is my second tasting of this tea, and I have to say, out of all of my teavana teas I have (about 12 of them) I like their unflavoured teas the best. This black tea has a nice earthy taste to it, but I am pretty sure I added too much tea for the amount of water I used, I would use less next time. It’s a very warm comforting black tea, and it’s even better when you add milk to it.
Preparation
Ok, so I neglected to have tea until late at night and decided I didn’t want to be up until 3 am and put on a pot of this tisane. It smelled really good, but it was too tart for my taste, but I don’t hate it. I may try it again with a bit of sugar.
Preparation
This is one of my favourite tea’s from Davids. Many people talk about how bitter this tea is and I don’t find it bitter at all. I don’t use as much tea as suggested and I don’t ever oversteep—maybe that’s why people find it bitter? It love Earl Grey, it’s a classic, and this is a floral twist to it. I was worried that it would be tart with the berries added to it but it’s such a beautiful blend. It’s always very comforting… this is my second Earl Grey today… must be that kind of day. I always have this one with milk.
As much as I like Gyokuro, sencha is also quite like gyokuro but a tad bit lighter and not so much as assertive. I recommend gyokuro and senchas made by maeda-en and yamamotoyamma that are sold in asian supermarkets. They are quite just as tasy and If there is a tight budget you can get away buying a packet of 5oz for 10 dollars! Yummy!
