This is one that I’ve been looking forward to tasting ever since I received the box from Zoomdweebies, but, I just haven’t tried until now…
There is an unusual almost “alcohol” taste to this one – sort of like the cheesecake were made with banana liqueur or something. It’s not a bad taste, just unexpected. A smooth, creaminess to it – yummy cheesecake…
It’s good – not as good as I had hoped for given that I swoon over most of Frank’s banana teas… but it is tasty.
Preparation
My supply of this one is almost depleted! It’s a very good tea, pleasantly sweet, juicy flavor.
As I sit here and contemplate this tea, I am wishing I would have thought to order one of the cran-strawberry tea from 52 Teas… Frank does cranberry right. Cranberry teas typically scare me just a little because either they’re too tart or the cranberry flavor isn’t well represented. Not so with the cranberry teas that I’ve tried thus far from 52Teas (Cranberry matcha!) and Zoomdweebies.
Anyway… a very good blend. I’ll be sad to see it go, but, the truth is that I have plenty of other teas to keep me busy… and well… that makes me glad!
Preparation
Random selection from my vast assortment of teas from Zoomdweebies.
I like this one a lot more than I thought I would. I’m not crazy, particularly, about cranberries. I like them alright… and they’re a must around thanksgiving, and I even keep a large stash of dried cranberries on hand at all times because I prefer them to raisins in my hot cereal. So, I guess I like them more than I originally stated. But, what I’m driving at is that I probably wouldn’t CHOOSE this tea from Zoomdweebies vast array (or former vast array?) of teas – I probably wouldn’t choose it over some of the other intriguing flavors.
But, I’m glad that I have tried it because it’s really rather tasty. The cranberry and orange flavors are pleasant, not too tart and with a nice sweetness that sort of glides over the palate in the finish. Nice. Very nice.
Preparation
This is one I was very excited to try – I love grapefruit, and as some of you may have read from my past tasting notes and reviews, I’m in search of the perfect grapefruit flavored green tea – I tasted the most spectacular grapefruit green tea while vacationing in Tucson last year and I want more of it. Unfortunately, I’ve not had a lot of luck with the vendor who sold that tea to the tea house… they sell locally only and I haven’t been able to negotiate terms of shipping some of that delicious tea to me.
Anyways… so needless to say that I like grapefruit… so I was excited to try this… (by the way Frank – pretty please blend a grapefruit green tea)
The flavor is very nice – slightly tart grapefruit flavor, but not too tart. I did add a little sugar (I always eat my grapefruit with sugar too)… so I am sure that curbed some of the natural grapefruit tart, but, in a very good way, because this tastes yummy.
I like!
Preparation
This tea tastes like the fruit cocktail tea but with a black base instead of a green one. It smells fruity and delicious and it tastes fruity and delicious. This was a very happy tea to start the morning off with. If teas had personalities this one would be fun-loving and care-free. I look forward to trying this iced!
Unfortunately the whole reason I revisited this was because I’ve finally had Adagio’s version… but my tasting note for that was deleted. :( Good news is I’m finally getting the apple. I would give it a 100, but there’s a slight spice that I’m not sure should be there for a candied apple- although it’s very yummy.
Preparation
CLEARANCE BOX TEA 3/20:
Made a gallon iced. 7TB +1tsp/8oz water added to 120oz cold water. Couldn’t be easier. Drinking my 1st 18oz bottle.
The raw leaf smells very much like a strong apple black tea w/ a hint of candyness… I think… I’ve never had a candied apple lol.
When steeped, I’m quite suprised the DARK reddish brown liquor smells almost completely of a smooth, sweet black tea. Just a hint of apple and not really any candy.
Unfortunately the flavor of the tea tastes just like it smells… A WONDERFUL smooth and sweet black tea and… well… there’s not much “and” I’m think I’m getting a light candied apple note as an after thought, but that’s it. Get’s a 100 for personal preference, but not for accuracy. :(
Preparation
I’m the first to log this!? I’m shocked!
This infuses to a color much lighter than I expected. It’s not overly flavored and it’s tastes like a black tea with a gentle licorice flavor. Don’t be afraid of this one thinking it’s all about the licorice! This is a gentle licorice and the flavor might surprise you…I know it surprised me! Pretty good!!!
A random selection chosen out of the many, many teas I have from Zoomdweebies.
The apple flavor is a little less apparent than the sweet, candy-ish flavor… which is a little less apparent than the flavor of the black tea. But, I like the way they come together in the cup… it’s really delicious.
Preparation
Yum! This is a delicious way to start my day. (Yes… my days usually start this late)
I didn’t actually have any particular flavor or tea in mind when I opened the drawer to my tea cabinet… I just knew I wanted a black tea with some substance so that I could shake off that sleepy feeling that sort of lingers when I first wake up. This was the tea that I grabbed.
I’m glad I did. It’s yummy. It reminds me a bit of the butter pecan flavored tea of 52Teas except that I’m not getting that creamy, buttery note… which I did love but, I also like this where the focus is on the pecan.
Deliciously nutty, sweet, and very pleasant. It would make a really good latte too, but, I’m quite enjoying it without the dairy.
Preparation
Tea 2 of facing my fears day! Unfortunately this one isn’t as much of a pleasant surprise as the first tea. This smells like SPEARMINT, like really hits you in the face with it. I really dislike spearmint which is weird because I love mint, but spearmint, just ick!!
In addition to smelling like spearmint this tastes like spearmint (kind of like spearmint orbit) and it has this weird feeling when I drink it. It kinda makes my mouth numb like mouthwash. So even if I liked spearmint that alone would be a major ick factor. I think I may have to give this tea away because I don’t know how I am gonna polish off 2oz of this. I can barely finish this cup.
But oh well…having fun trying teas I am scared of anyway!
I couldn’t drink the Adagio spearmint sample I had… I love peppermint, but spearmint is a whole ‘nother beast. It’s got a different sort of tingle to it.
I had an epiphany in the car today- you could try blending it w/ an equal part watermelon black… or freeze a cup of watermelon and blend it w/ a cup of this chilled. :)
I would normally suggest using 2x the leaf when you use any other than tea cubes for ices, but since you aren’t big on spearmint, maybe you shouldn’t.
Haha – yeah probably not… for me the appeal of watermelon would be diluting the spearmint flavor – haha
True lol. I just think the combo would be amazing. I want to try making a matcha version- 1/2 cup frozen watermelon, 1/2 cup 2x strength mint tisane, 1tsp matcha :)
For someone not into fruit teas that much it wasn’t bad. I fully believe the honey giving the tea little something richer helped it a lot. The honey appears after thr strawberry and the best part is that it also lingers on the tongue long after. I enjoyed this more than expected and am happy to have had the chance to try it.
Preparation
Today is face your fears day! I am going to try a bunch of teas that I have been apprehensive about tasting. I decided to start with this one.
I am really not a fan of grapefruit, the real thing or things flavored like it. So obviously I was worried about this tea. The dry leaves smell like…no kidding… oregano? I have no idea why but its not an unpleasant thing for tea to smell like. The steeping tea smells like something I can’t quiet put my finger on maybe tomato. I don’t know why I am getting so many savory scents from a fruit flavored tea but oh well.
The tea tastes like a standard black tea with a hint of something. I wouldn’t guess it to be grapefruit. Again it seems more of a savory flavor. Luckily it doesn’t taste anything like grapefruit to me so I was able to enjoy the cup. Hopefully the rest of my experiences today go this well.
Preparation
Sounds like you have an exciting tea day ahead of you! I’m looking forward do to reading about it!=D
Several of our in-store regulars love the grapefruit with a tiny pinch of salt. Might give that a shot.
Okay…this time around my experiences were a tad different. Don’t get me wrong I like this flavor BUT…
I’m getting a very minty taste! Yes…MINTY! Like…it should be called Pineapple-Mint Flavored Black!
Just had to mention. Still yummy but different than my first go-around with this tea.
