Hah, it seems it could be quite new even it is from huge bags. Maybe it is indeed, I have faint memory that I bought this one while I was in Prague.

Anyway, haven’t expected much and it delivers exactly what I expected. Quite nice green tea flavours, it was grassy and mellow. Popped rice brought that popcorn expected flavour, bit roasted as well.

Nice genmaicha :)

There are tea shops in Prague? I’m going to drag my boyfriend to them! :D

Martin Bednář

You bet! Few really nice ones and I bet we could find Dobra Tea shops/rooms there as well.

I’m going to have to do some research before I come over there (:

I’ve saved your email address to my phone for use when we book our holiday, I will for sure be sending you a message! We’re hoping to book in the next couple of months but we want to wait and see how the Coronavirus situation plays out first.

good, good :) Covid situation over here is quite okay, just few sources (Prague is one among them, honestly). Safety first!

Thanks to AliceG for sending a sample of this! I’ve always wanted to try genmaicha, but I’ve never gotten around to it. The main flavor is the toasted rice. At first, it was surprisingly savory, but it’s actually kind of addicting. The more I drink it, the more I like it! It reminds me of some popcorn teas I’ve enjoyed in the past. Since I haven’t had other genmaichas, I can’t compare this to others, but I can say that it’s tasty! The green tea is hiding behind the rice, which I don’t mind. It makes a good second steep too.

Genmaicha is one of my favorite teas; it’s remarkably cozy and comforting on an upset stomach, too. I usually don’t like bagged green teas, but Yamamotoyama is by far one of the best IMO.
