This was the pot of tea my mom ordered during our breakfast at Pendray Inn. She was excited to get to try another of Westholme’s teas, even though this isn’t one of the Canadian grown ones. Plus, if she proved nothing else during this trip, it’s that she loves a floral black tea – especially one with bergamot. This is, after all, a lavender Earl Grey…
I actually enjoyed this one the most out of the three teas she’d picked during our rotation of tea houses. It was very lavender forward but a soft, soothing lavender that almost seemed to caress the palate instead of assaulting it with perfumes. I found the bergamot incredibly light handed, which may be why I enjoyed this as much as I did. Not a floral overload, for sure. The tea had a nice natural honey-like sweetness to it, and it complimented a gentle addition of cream exceptionally well!
Pretty much my favourite tea. I love the Assam base, I love earl grey, and I love the heavy hit of lavender.
So good either plain or with milk/sugar. Once my mom sends me more (she’s my tea supplier these days!) I’ll have to make it as a latte, all fancy with steamed milk and everything.
Light and flowery scented, with a taste that matches. The floral notes are in the sip, the tea comes out in the finish. I can’t pick out any particular flower, just an overall floral taste. I’m not a huge green tea fan, so it’s not a surprise that I’m not taken with this, but it is interesting to try tea that is grown in Canada!
Preparation
I bought this a long time ago, but haven’t reviewed it. I did a floral theme today for valentine’s day (despite being forever alone), and shared several pots with a friend. The rose and a bit of jasmine, slightly roasty flavoured tea leaves. Something that reminds me of vanilla, there is a vegetal quality in the tea leaves as well.

Day 17 – Moving on to bigger and better things! Today I got to experience Qu Hao, also known as Black Silk, a black tea from the Wuyi mountains. The flavour is delicious; nutty, cocoa flavours, that are almost creamy, and a thick mouth feel.

Day 3 – A comforting mix of lemongrass, nettle leaf, red clover, linden leaf and flowers, rose petals, elder flowers and stevia. The initial aroma radiates hay and chamomile, but the flavour is sweet and floral.

Day 2 – Like tea, yerba mate is packed with caffeine and antioxidants. These mate leaves have been roasted and mixed with classic chai ingredients; cardamon, ginger, cinnamon, black pepper and cloves. Mate isn’t my favourite thing to drink, but mixed with spices and a little honey, this earthy, spicy tea is grounding.
