A friend gave me a cup of this and, oh my, it smells amazing! This is one of the most aromatic teas I’ve had. That alone would make it a good cup, but it also tasted great. You’d have to like almond, but if you do (and if you like almond cookies) you’ll love this cup!
Getting really low on this… never imagined that I’d go thru almost 100g of matcha in 15 days. Added lemon juice to my strawberry protein water this morning. I generally like lime over lemon in water, but I thought the lemon would go better w/ the strawberry than the lime. It looks like sewer water, but it’s really good!
Backlog from yesterday. The store didn’t have the pink lemonade protein water so I went w/ Strawberry Kiwi. MUCH less sweet and I didn’t need lime juice (good thing since I didn’t add it lol). Tastes like strawberry juice. A definite must try for the strawberry lover. I’m even thinking of making this hot w/ half water half milk and adding cocoa powder as well as matcha… yes, I know. I’m insane.
Matcha OJ… still haven’t eaten…
Well, this is the matcha that I have now. I never have more than one unflavored matcha in my posession at a time.
Hungry, but indecisive. Matcha protein water it is. :)
I get like this often. Especially after grocery shopping. XD
I was wondering if you could recommend any other teas from Urbana? I’m putting together an order and I figured you’d be best to ask.
This is the only tea I’ve ever tried from them. Sorry. I know. Good, right? I just ordered 4 bags. That should last me 2 months.
It’s okay. =) Everything they sell looks good if not amazing. Do you want me to send you some samples? (Mostly whites and oolongs)
Sure! I love whites and most oolongs- as long as they aren’t roasty. I’m thinking some (or all) of these teas might be Rishi teas- I know Rishi has a Fire Ginseng and a Rose Malange. Their “Rio” herbal sounds weird, but yummy. If only “Unity” didn’t have licorice! I bet Passion Fruit Jasmine would be good iced.
Mom asked if she could make me some tea. She never offers- even when I’m sick. So I took her up on her offer and had her make me a smoothie. 1 cup fresh pineapple, 2tsp matcha. That’s it. Very simple. And also REALLY good. Lovin’ this combo. It looks like slime, but who cares? lol :)
My sleep schedule has been massively out of wack and the quality poor so when my dog gave me the opportunity to sleep til 10:30, I took it. But that posed a unique problem- I needed to take my breakfast pills w/ my lunch pills. I decided to take them with my protein water/matcha combo hoping the extra liquid and the flavor will make taking them (14) easier. And it seemed to have worked!
I normally don’t pair my matcha with anything except for possibly a piece of fruit on occasion, but since it’s that time of year, I decided to pair it w/ a Thin Mint Girl Scout cookie. Sooo good! Reminds me of my favorite non coffee Starbucks winter drink. :) Even though I like to take my time drinking my matcha and don’t mind rewisking it (especially when this doesn’t need much), I still find eating while drinking matcha a bit awkward. I think I’m going to make shortbread then dip them in mint matcha chocolate ganache to get the same flavors.
Ok… the official test. 1tsp poperly sifted and whisked in my chawan w/ 8oz hot water which is 4x the suggested serving size on the bag.
Now this is interesting… My first observation is that it’s very easy to sift. So much so that very few of the tiny wholes in my sifter are clogged with matcha. Ease of cleaning my sifter after use will definitely give this matcha brownie points.
As soon as I pour the water over the matcha powder, it starts to mix and even froth at the edges. This quality is not exclusive to this matcha, but it’s definitely a nice thing to see. It whisks quickly and easily and forms quite a bit of froth, even for someone like me who still isn’t very skilled at froth making.
Yummm… WOW. This has a nice strong flavor, but also a smooth quality instead of a harshness that one might expect from consuming the entire tea leaf. This is the smoothest matcha I’ve had w/o being weak in flavor. I like to take my time drinking matcha and I absolutely don’t mind rewisking halfway thru if that’s what it takes for me to enjoy the entire bowl, but this needs very little rewisking because the mouthfeel is smooth in addition to the flavor.
I’ve said in the past that my palate is not yet refined to say x matcha is “the best I’ve ever tried”, but I think taking into account all factors (even those that, in all honesty, don’t reflect taste such as the price), this is the best matcha I’ve ever had. I just hope it stands up to matcha OJ- that’s the last test for me.
TRY THIS!
