One of my all time favourites. I started drinking this tea as a child, and was like a sort of introduction to tea for me.
I love the strong body of this tea combined with the bergamot aroma. It offers a good value for money. Probably better earl greys can be found, but it’s quiet affordable and can be easily found in most supermarkets.
I’d say it’s a deffinitely must-have in my kitchen’s cupboard.
Flavors: Citrus, Earl Grey, Earth
Preparation
Another bag from huge bags. Apparently I had similar one (see https://steepster.com/Martin-CZE/posts/397905 )
But I feel it is bit different. More strawberry, less mango. Quite Fresh and Fruity (good name for tea series). Taste is mostly strawberry, Mango… not here? It is not artificial (strawberry). And even juicy! Mouth-watering, great taste… just more mango please!
Flavors: Fruity, Strawberry
Preparation
Hmm, what worked for some did not work for me.
Sort of a medicinal cough drop scent and flavor to this one. The orange is akin to chewing on an orange rind in bite and oily texture. The cinnamon doesn’t really add a lot other than bite on the nose. I experimented with different steep times but left disappointed.
It’s somehow flat and offers unrounded taste at the same time for me. I would stick to straight rooibos tea before adding herbal tisane elements.
Flavors: Medicinal, Orange Zest, Syrupy
Preparation
I wonder if US version is same or not.
But I have this one, based on bag design.
The aroma is strong, and unfortunately it smells bit like a dish soap to me. I think that lavender + bergamot don’t work very well in aroma.
Taste was pleasant on the other side, it was nice and mild, with floral notes of lavender and citrus, pleasant sourness. Base tea was present and nice too.
I am bit puzzled how to rate it. Taste was pleasant, but that aroma wasn’t great. Hmm… Fresh it would be much better I bet.
On the other news; my grandma had a stroke yesterday evening, so I am not really in mood even making tea. Luckily, it was just some minor and with “ups and downs”, so it was partially free, not blocked completely. Oh boy, and she was okay few hours earlier. But because of COVID, we can’t even visit her. I feel sad.
Flavors: Bergamot, Citrusy, Floral, Lavender, Pleasantly Sour
Preparation
Your grandma got lucky if that’s all she experienced! Hope you’re able to visit her soon, or at least video call.
Thank you guys, I really appreciate it! She was doing better today, as I have notice my mum (her daughter) calling her. She knew exactly what she needs and missing in the hospital, so we could deliver it today. Unfortunately, as I said, I could not see her, I was stopped at the gatehouse.
First brewing this, it smells like my college years. I drank this tea most during that time, studying for long hours in Engineering school.
Bergamot covers the nose and mouthfeel. It’s sharp, but gentle all the same, and kind of oily. Nostalgic. I wonder if this tea would be good with some lemon if I were feeling ill. Not that I plan to feel ill any time soon, but, ya know.
There is a little astringency on the finish, but it seems partially a product of the bergamot oil. I’m wondering what a good loose-leaf Earl Grey tastes like, because on its own: this is a pretty good bagged tea! It’s amazing what the citrus can hide in the leaves present. (Twinings has a loose-leaf Earl Grey I’m interested in.)
Getting down to the bottom of the cup and there’s a bit of chalkiness in the mouthfeel which is somewhat unpleasant.
Maybe it’s nostalgia at work, but this tea is still punching above its’ bagged origin. Not a bad thing to have on hand but I would rather reach for a higher shelf.
Flavors: Astringent, Bergamot, Citrus
