This tea is has the perfect profile of a high grow tea from Sri Lanka, more precisely from the
Harrington Fair trade estate ( 3000-5000 feet / 1000-1500 meters high ) ) in the District of Dimbula which cool climates and beautiful nature allows the production of fragrant, brisk and full-bodied teas, picked between January and February.
Flavors: Apple Candy, Spicy, Tobacco, Wood

several attempts later to make this a cup i can drink, i give up. It’s a black tea that does taste like blueberry, but not chocolate to be found as far as i can taste. it’s also got a bitter sort of taste going on that leaves me wanting more from this. Just not my cup of tea.
not sure how i feel about this one. It smells heavenly. But brewed, there’s a bitterness hanging around the back of the tea that i’m not a fan of. A little sugar might smooth things out and make the flavours come together a bit more for me. it’s chocolate blueberry for sure, but i need to play with this one a little before i make up my mind on it.
YUM! This is another one from my Tea Sparrow box that I got yesterday. The dry tea smells like fresh, ripe blueberries and chocolate. After its been brewed I can taste the blueberry flavour more than the chocolate. The chocolate taste is still present, but I think some of it gets lost in the black tea. I might add a splash of milk to this next time I make it.
I will definitely be buying more of this after I finish the sample bag.
Flavors: Blueberry, Chocolate

A mild tisane with gentle strains of well-balanced apple, cinnamon, and a bit of tartness from the cranberries and rosehips. Lovely. It could do with longer steeping to give it more body.
This tea arrived as a selection from my TOTM box with Tea Sparrow. A great choice. I had been craving something fresh and real tasting following my earlier experience today with the false and bitter flavours of Fantasy Island.
Flavors: Apple, Cinnamon, Cranberry, Rosehips

So. I am truly not a fan of mint, generally. I do not seek out mint. Ever. That said, this tea arrived in one of my tea subscription packets and well, what to do.
Having said all that, this tea is just awesome. Each sip has two distinct levels of flavour: the initial chocolate mint hit, like the square chocolates, followed by a mint vanilla with the slightest bit of chocolate trailing behind. The rooibos adds a fullness of flavour to it all.
A lovely cup. I will enjoy this tea until it is all gone.
Flavors: Chocolate, Peppermint

My newest addiction, I am seriously in love with this tea! One of the major problems I’ve had with fruity teas in the past is how fake they taste, but this blend is subtle and completely natural tasting. I’m in love!
Flavors: Strawberry

So most of the province is under a heat advisory…with temps soaring up to above 30 C…and I am going to one of the FIFA games tomorrow HAHA. That might not end up going well. I’m kind of hoping the person I’m going with decides we should not go and then we can just go somewhere with AC out of the sun haha. Ugh.
I made a minty hot tea this morning, but I think this weekend I will bust out my iced tea pitcher for the first time this year and make a few (dozen) batches of non-caffeinated teas. I feel like I shall melt haha. Oh, and this tea is minty and good as usual. See previous notes!
Are you in BC? Stay cool! Spring has hardly hit here on the East Coast, let alone summer. Low 20s, but forecast of 14 this Sunday! Climate change is feeling pretty real this year.
Haha no in AB! We rarely get heat like this, I guess usually one week of summer, I’m hoping this is the last one! I prefer it a bit cooler. I would love to be where you are! I’m good with low 20s :) climate change is definitely having a impact, both with winter and summer. Kind of scary!
I enjoy the low 20s as well BUT it hasn’t been consistent so the lakes are still cold and I haven’t been swimming yet this year. Which I do NOT appreciate! Our winter was horrible, the worst one in my (shortish) lifetime. It was comparable to winters 50+ years ago..and the one before was no picnic either. :(
Eat lots of cool things and remember to stay hydrated. Good luck!
We have been around 40C here in the south but we are more used to it. That sounds really high for up there and I hear that a lot people don’t have air conditioning. Stay safe! I actually have gotten dizzy twice lately – once working in the yard and once while out running errands.
@Uniquity – yeah your winter was horrible! Ours was surprisingly mild and not as prolonged as other years. We really need rain here or there will be a drought this year though! I survived the soccer game though! Lots of water and a giant sun hat :D
@ashmanra – ugh we only get 40C here rarely and those days I can’t even leave the house, no idea how you guys deal with it! Don’t get too warm, heat exhaustion is the worst :(
@mrmopar – haha for the one week of hot weather or the usual lack of it? :)
It’s been a long time Steepster..I have been pretty busy with life, had a work conference in Toronto last week, lots of events, not much time to have tea, except for a bunch of bagged peppermint last week lol. But I thought I’d log this tea this morning because it’s FRIDAY and I can finally (hopefully) go home and nap and catch up on sleep before my brother’s birthday celebration tonight. This tea is minty and fresh citrus, as usual. Tasty and happy to not have caffeine today, my digestion has been on a rollercoaster from too much eating out the past week and a half…need to eat veggies and avoid tannins for a bit! See previous notes on this tea :)
This work conference in Toronto last week…it wouldn’t happen to have been a conference for professional editors, would it? From the 12th to the 14th?
Darn. Because I live in Toronto I think it would have been amazing if we had been at the same conference.
Happy Friday the 13th! I am drinking another herbal today, and a tasty one at that. I did try a cup of pu’erh last night and it was good for my anxiety, I actually fell asleep drinking it, but the only major problem is that our water is full of additional chlorine currently (the city added a bit more due to spring runoff), so the puerh tasted like woody, rich goodness…with dishsoap. YUCK. I couldn’t finish the cup lol and I haven’t even been drinking water at home, it tastes too much like pool water for my liking. It is safe and all, just an odor and mild taste, the city has been sure to emphasize that, but I don’t like it at all lol.
The water at my work for some reason is still normal (probably because it’s not clean or something haha) so I made my tea at work today and it is good. Minty, citrusy goodness. I quite enjoy this tea, and need to place an order from this company for more Nettle Chai. Soon! See previous notes on this tea :)
Today was such a good mail day! I received my new teaware, my coveted puerh cake I broke my hiatus for, as well as free samples with both! Here are some pics, the tea pet is a gift (that I picked out lol) from the boyfriend for my bday tomo :)

Anyways lol it was a good day! I am having this tea before bed, haven’t drank it yet because it’s too hot but it smells amazing and soothing as usual :) and I’m off to bed with the cup, hopefully I don’t fall asleep before drinking it! See previous notes :)
I will finally review this tea! I have drank it quite a few times, especially on our trip, but haven’t written a note on it yet. Well, tonight is the night! I have been sipping shu all day while re-seasoning my pot (it’s done now, just drying, hopefully it worked!). I need a little caffeine break, and this is such a delicious tea I had to have it again tonight.
The thing that sold me on this tea in Ucluelet’s tea shop Thay Tea is that it is a mint EG. Just contains spearmint, peppermint and bergamot! A wonderfully simple concept but not one that I had seen before. So I smelled it, and was blown away by the freshness of it. I mean, citrusy bergamot and mint? It was SO FRESH. Mmmm. Smelling the bag now takes me back to the west coast. I’m happy I have that memory attached to this :)
I brewed this for around 2 minutes. The liquor smells not quite as minty when steeped, but definitely still there, and the bergamot is not overpowering. As for the flavor, this is so fresh. Mostly mint yes, but the bergamot adds this brightness and livens it up from a straight mint blend by adding citrus notes. SO REFRESHING. I bet this would be amazing iced too! This helps clear out my sinuses too, and it makes me happy :) a lovely combo!
Overall, I am so happy I picked up 50g (smallest in-store size) of this tea. It is one I will drink quite frequently for the memories and flavor. The fact that it is caffeine free means it will also get drank frequently. If you like mint and want to try something a bit different, this is for you. Tasty and fresh!
Flavors: Bergamot, Citrus, Mint
I love how you were able to visit these rural tea shops on the Island! I haven’t even done so since I don’t have a vehicle haha.
Awe, well hopefully you get to go to them at some point! We had a rental car so we went everywhere put a lot of miles on it haha. Luckily they do have online ordering so you can still try them :)
Smart plan renting! I only have my learner’s so no can do, but regardless, I’m sure it must have been a nice experience going to these places in person, smelling the teas, etc. It must have been a ton of fun!
Yeah we had to pay the young renters fee but luckily we still could or our trip would have been much less eventful haha, well you will be able to go to them all in a couple years at least! It was quite fun :)
Sorry :(
No need to be sorry. It is always nice to try something new.
Agreed.
Don’t think I’ve tried this one yet. I vaguely recall opening the packet when I was putting together your samples. When/if it resurfaces, I am curious what my take on it will be.
