Chocolate Milk Cold Brew Sipdown (322)
When I opened the package yesterday to cold brew this, I was immediately hit with a strong alcohol smell. It was really weird and really pungent. I hoped for the best anyways and dumped the sample in the chocolate milk to sit in the fridge overnight. Alas, that alcohol smell carried through. Though now that I think about it, it maybe was menthol and not alcohol on account of the mint. Anyways, I wasn’t a fan and this mostly got dumped.
Three words: Generic. Berry. Rooibos.

Iced tea/hot tea Sipdown (351)
This sample had 3 perfect teaspoons so I used 2 in my iced tea press and the last in an 8 ounce mug. It’s an interesting tea made up of a bunch of different fruits and a bunch of different herbal ingredients I am not particularly familiar with.
The iced tea has a nice fruity flavor with has no hibby/rosehip tartness. It’s sad though because that fruit flavor is followed by a forest quality/woodiness/not great herbal flavor.
Hot, this is worse. That fruit flavor is mostly gone other than a slight sweetness. The herbs take over. Honestly it’s like someone took a tiny bit of jam and smeared it on a dump branch with leaves.
I leave Sunday morning. I planned on coming to you this week but alas it has been busier than I originally anticipated.
This travels towards lemon pledge but manages to be reigned in by the oolong base and ginger zip at the end of each sip. It would be a nice tea when you aren’t feeling your best.

I made this iced and hot while sick a little while back. It was minty with a little bit of ginger but it felt good going down so I was happy.

Around the end of last year I went for High Tea at the Ritz Carlton. If I am being honest, it was a bit of a disappointment but they introduced me to Sloane Tea’s Oolong Creme which I think is the tea that got me interested in oolongs. However, it is also the tea that set a fairly high standard for milk oolongs and though this one wasn’t bad, it just didn’t measure up. Milky and floral but a bit on the thinner side.

Sipdown (370)
You’d think a tea called “Some Like it Hot!” would have more of a kick. It’s got cardamom. It’s got licorice from the star anise. It’s got ginger. No burn. No spice. It’s warming but not what I expected. With that said, I don’t hate it which is surprising given the anise.
I don’t always love the flavor of orange teas but the smell always gets me. This tea smelled like orange and that scent transferred into the taste as well. The oolong complimented the flavor as well, adding a bit of floral and cream to round out the citrus.

Sipdown (374)
This actually had a lot more vanilla flavour than I expected. It’s a bit nutty and a bit rooibosy which makes this for a more robust flavour overall. It’s nice but vanilla rooibos blends are kind of boring and I don’t see myself reaching for this often. It’s very nice if you’re into this sort of thing though.
Lemonade/Ice Tea Sipdown (375)
This is supposed to be a rooibos/honeybush blend but when I opened the sample, it looked like black tea. I even sent a photo to Sil who also said it looked like black tea. So that was a confusing start.
Anyways, I actually brewed this a couple days ago but haven’t been able to get to it for a while. Now that I am finally drinking it I still don’t know if it is a black tea or honeybush/rooibos blend because all I am getting is a whole lot of honey and lemon sweetness with a peppermint finish. I can see this being well liked by some but for me it is a bit too sweet. I don’t know if its the tea to blame or the lemonade.

Not gonna lie…this was disappointing. It smelled awesome but why was the little bit of rooibos necessary?! I do get banana and I do get pineapple but then I also get that rooibos and the coconut just makes this a touch too slick. I had high hopes because a flambeed banana tea sounds awesome but this fell short.
At least it still tastes good!
