As Teapigs state themselves, ’you’ll either love it or hate it’, I am certainly a lover. It does have quite a strong taste to it which I enjoyed, however my partner didn’t (yay, more for me!). If it helps you to detox and lose weight, even better.
Preparation
Instant Color when steeping!
It’s a slightly murky light brown.
Smells like Liquorice and Peppermint prior to steep. Smells more like a typical medicinal tea once steeped.
The sip…
HOLY MOTHER OF GOD!
It made me cough it’s so strong!
It’s REALLY Liquorice!!! And slightly Peppermint! WOW!
This is really intense…distracting.
BUT…it almost makes you want to see if you have the ‘hair on your head to handle it’.
If Steepsters would chant “Chug! Chug!” it would be the FRAT of Tea around here!
WOWZA! I’m going to try to finish it but I’m not sure…I think I will stay neutral for the time being…will try and play with this to see if understeeping would help.
I think we should create a Greek Name for us steepsters and it will be our Fraternity and Sororities!
Is it only peppermint and licorice root? My colleagues drink a lot of that. They leave the bag in throughout the day and just add more water when it’s running low.
I don’t know how strong it gets towards the bottom of the pot, though. I don’t really like it much myself. They add more water when they’re about two thirds down or so, because that sort of fits with when we have our lunch, so they never seem to get the really strong stuff.
There could also be some difference in strength between theirs and yours. I think they use a ‘normal’ amount of leaves when they make it (at least I do when I’m the one doing the hot bevvies), but there could be a difference in quality. Don’t know about the general quality of Teapigs, but I’m not all that impressed with the shop in which they buy theirs. Five or six great big constantly running coffee mills in the window of the shop is a bit of a turn-off for me.
Try Peppermint & Rosemary from Time Out Teas Cornwall U.K

My supply of this is getting low – just as well, herbals don’t have a very long shelf life.
Exhilarating and fresh. I contemplated adding some of this to my ultimate chocolate rooibos from 52Teas (still might do that) have a chocolate mint treat.
Preparation
Well, it’s late (about 1:20 am here) so it’s too late for caffeine. So, since I’m not headed to bed right away (hubby is on his way home – he works late on Friday nights) – I figured I’d brew myself something nice and relaxing.
Although it’s really nothing more than just pure peppermint leaves, this is one of the best pure peppermint herbal tisane I’ve tasted…… if not THE best I’ve tasted. The taste is so pure and clean and refreshing.
Preparation
And so began my tea-tasting adventure…
How long will it last? My progress on Steepster will no doubt be the best judge of that. Looking above the steam over Georgian rooftops in Bath, this tea left me feeling refreshed and eager for more. I don’t know much about tea, but I felt the two cups I got from the pot took me on a sort of journey between different energy levels.
Initially the heat from the water lulled me into a receptive state, gently sipping the lightly-tinted water and searching for the taste. I slipped into its smooth palate, feeling the caffeine stir my senses.
Perhaps the TicTac slogan, a “little lift” would be appropriate here. I was gently restored for an afternoon of shopping, without the familiar jittery fever accompanied by harsher teas.
I can only hope the other less common teas around these waters are as pleasant.
Preparation
I was in a restaurant today and was excited to see that they had a range of Teapigs tea on offer. I was excited and told my friends what a special occasion it was. So I was a little disappointed that the Teapigs range on offer was all tisanes rather than any real tea. The best I could find was this, because rooibos is almost real tea. Almost. But I wasn’t so enthusiastic. I had to get it after showing my initial enthusiasm to my friends, but my expecations were quite low.
And…
I’m impressed! I have had similar drinks before and found one flavour to be dominating. Sometimes you get very creamy textures, sometimes you get rooibos overpowering everything, and sometimes you get something that is so sweet that is horrible.
The flavours are balanced very well, the caramel dominates the smell of it, but I’d prefer that to the smell of rooibos, which I don’t like especially. When you drink it you can taste it all an it is actually very pleasant.
Even more surprising is that this come in a teabag as well as loose leaf. I had mine from a teabag, but it really shouldn’t make much difference because they use whole leaves in both, without costing a fortune like MightyLeaf teabags.
It’s not getting an incredibly high rating, because it’s not my kind of tea, but otherwise it’s great
As with many green teas, can be bitter and a little dry, however with a few cups, can be praised over for its light taste and refreshing, earthy scent. Good for a quick wake-up, (leaves have good character too and are fun to watch unfurling).
Preparation
Has an subtle nutty flavour to it almost an after taste, can’t quite place it but you know its making your tea taste better.
You know the way you can taste the difference between chocolate spread with hazelnuts and just regular chocolate spread.
Yes this is the hazelnut chocolate spread of green tea.
Preparation
Is this genmaicha or something else? The “sugar puffs” description in the tea info reminds me of Auggy and takgoti’s reviews of soba-cha.
But anyway, mmm, popcorn….
that would be clever Shanti. . . .turning the Genmaicha into a popcorn “feel”. ya, now you made me curious too!
I just updated the image of this tea. I think Genmaicha and popcorn tea are the same thing maybe?

The tea looks great. It has both the brown popcorn kernels in but some are puffed up like real popcorn.
My fave peppermint – straight-up herbal…hands down and SIPDOWN!
4 infusions…I think I am up to 10 for the day of overall teas…
OK, in my first reviw on Steepster I reviewed Upton’s Peppermint giving it a 97. I know ratings are subjective, But if you reread my review, I find it very good. So, now I’m wondering, ‘Just how good is this peppermint?’, and ‘Is it really better than Upton’s?’ I definitely have to add this to my shopping list.
I have personally not tried Upton’s peppermint, but I can say from personal experience with this peppermint from Teapigs that is is VERY good… certainly one of the best I’ve tried too.
I haven’t had Uptons either…sorry…but if you like intense mint like I do this one should be up your alley :)
I’m a huge Peppermint fan and after Teavana dropped it, switched to Cultinary Tea Peppermint but fairly sure they are reselling. Great to know you like this – will try!
I had to cleanse my palate! This does the trick! (see the previous tea I logged today to see why)
WOW! This will certainly knock your socks off!!! If you don’t like peppermint skip it! If you think you like MINTY Freshness – try it! It’s pure and straight up in every sense! This is POWERFUL and amazing! I’m so glad I got a large quantity of this! BUT again…this is the highest level of peppermint I have tasted…you’ve been warned!
