The citrus adds something unique to this chai. It makes the spices taste a little softer and leaves a pleasant aftertaste.

Solid cinnamon flavor, but a bit on the weak side even though I brewed it longer than 5 minutes.

I don’t know what in it made it so delicious, but I thought it was fantastic from the first sip to the bottom of the cup.

Accidentally let this one get cold, but it was a lot better cold! Definitely good for an iced tea.

Tasted a lot of peppermint and not much Darjeeling, but it was refreshing and yummy.

It’s not tasting as bark-like this time ‘round, but there’s still a tannin-like taste at the start of each sip that I’m not fond of. It trails off into something that’s a bit greener and smoother, but I’m still having trouble picking up that milky/buttery quality that milk oolongs are supposed to have.

There was an interesting sweetly floral scent that wafted up from my mug while this tea was steeping.

I was full of anticipation over the chance to taste this tea – after all it was another milk oolong that is officially my “Bestest T Evar!”. This tea is….not it. Wait, don’t leave yet! It isn’t a bad tea – I think I might be holding it up to standards that are too high – the milk oolong I had from The O DOR was a $80/100g tea after all!

It has a bit of a harshly cooked, tannin-y, and slightly bark-like astringency to it that I’m not hugely fond of. It definitely tastes more like a dark, roasted oolong than a green oolong to my palate. Interestingly, one way in which it is similar to the The O DOR oolong is that drinking the tea with something sweet helps bring out the smooth, milky quality of the tea. It isn’t the “bursting with honeyed cream” flavour of the latter, but it tastes much smoother and develops a mildly sweet tone, though it can’t seem to completely escape that bark-like tannic taste.

The resteep (@ 4:45) is a bit less harsh and a bit more ‘green’ in taste but overall it’s noticeably weaker.

A gift from TeaEqualsBliss, whose tasting note I’m going to echo. It’s citrus and mate. Nothing more, nothing less. And that’s about it

I grabbed a samples-worth from the TTB and almost forgot about it because I put it in a KUSMI left-over tin LOL – anyhow…I am drinking this now. First I must say that I couldn’t find it on the Subtle Tea Website so I don’t have the info or pic for it BUT it’s a neat looking blend. It has chunks of spices and pumpkin and lil sugar-orange candy looking things in the blend. MOST Spiced Pumpkin Tea scare me. This one isn’t bad at all! It’s Medium Brown in Color…it smells just like pumpkin spice. The taste is somewhat subtle but somewhat bold if that makes sense. I guess I am jazzed about this tea because they don’t overdue it with the spices! You can still taste the black tea and you can also taste the flavors…it blends really well. This is a Pumpkin Spice I can deal with :)

My first tea from The Traveling Teabox!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I tried this one first because you could smell it the minute you opened the box :) Cinnamon, cinnamon, cinnamon!!! When you open the tea package, you can see great big pieces of cinnamon bark, and wee pumpkins made of sugar!

It brewed up into a nice medium bodied tea. The first sip was great! Really flavorful and spicy and strongly flavored of pumpkin spice. By the second sip I started to think of the flavored coffees that were popular in the early 1990s. By the third sip I started thinking of the super heavily scented candles!! I was then convinced I was drinking a candle and found the tea overwhelmingly artificially flavored. It was just Too Much.

But! If you like flavored coffee, you just might like this one! It is nestled back in the Traveling Teabox ready for more tastings from Steepsterites!

Aww, it’s unfortunate your first tea from TTB wasn’t a success. Keep digging, keep trying! =]

TeaEqualsBliss

Oooo…wait…that’s means it’s getting closer to me! LOL YAY!

JacquelineM

Ricky – it was kinda cool tho – if I would have had that tea awhile ago I probably would have ADORED it. My tastes have really changed as I’ve learned more about tea, and having this tea really confirmed it. I think of it as a kind of backwards success :)

TeaEqualsBliss – I’ll have it out by monday! I’m gonna send it priority USPS so you should have it super duper soon!!!!!

teaplz

How many teas are currently in the TTB? I’m kind of curious!

JacquelineM

I took 10 different types of tea, and added 15, and I would say that I didn’t touch about … between 15 and 20! In short – a fantastic variety!

Angrboda

AWESOME!
How is it doing size-wise? I hope it isn’t getting out of control large.

JacquelineM

Angrboda – I did my solemn duty :) I made sure that I took lots of things out and made sure that everything that I put in fit well into the box that came to me :) I did notice that it’s a different box than what started out – I’m not sure if it’s because the contents grew and the box needed to be bigger, or because the box got shabby and needed a replacement.

I took what is left of your raspberry oolong! I remember seeing your tasting notes and thinking how delicious it sounded but how I’d probably never get to taste it because it was from so far away. I’m glad to say I was wrong about that!!!!

I also noticed a distinct lack of stickers in the TTB journal, and made sure I stuck lots of stickers on my pages ;) Thankfully they are light!!!

Ricky

Raspberry Oolong by A C Perch, mouth watering. See, I still remember it!

It seems your box vanished a long time ago, Angrboda. When I received it, it was already in a new larger container =P. I changed up the box a bit when I sent it to Mike. Haha, seems we keep changing around the box.

JacquelineM

Angrboda – some pics so you can see the size of the box etc…

That raspberry oolong is turning out to be fairly legendary! I’m beginning to think I ought to buy an enormous lot and send it to people. :p I hope you like it. :) If you don’t and there’s enough left, I think you can just send it to Ricky. :p

Oh dear… already? I feel slightly… scared now. I’m imagening getting a whole truckload delivered to my door when it comes back. o.O

takgoti

Jacqueline, you take lovely pictures!

JacquelineM

takgoti – thanks! I just started but I really enjoy it.

teaplz

So cool! Glad to see that it’s still making the rounds! :D

Angrboda

Gosh yes, it’s only in the first third of recipients still. :) I expect it to make it back to me in april.

Ricky

Haha, fwahah, raspberry oolong! It’s funny because my co-worker asked me if I had raspberry tea. Unfortunately, I don’t! I’m sure he would have loved some of this. Strange request if you ask me, haha. When you finally get the traveling tea box back it’ll weight over 100 pounds =P You’ll have enough tea to last you a lifetime.

eeeeh. Not so sure.
Why? Well, it tastes like pure Hazelnut Oil or flavoring. Bleh. Infusing for 4 mins. I tried a 2nd time for half the time…and it was still Hazelnut with water tasting. Tastes and smells like it. Coloring is a pale yellowish color.
Not for me. Might be interesting to use as a flavored broth, however…just a thought.

Not bad. Smooth with a little bark-like taste as an undertaste then ends with a sweetness. Interesting.

drank Tiramisu Mate by SensibiliTeas

This is going well with my strawberries and Cool Whip dessert. This blend feels kind of heavy on my tongue, almost as if it were gritty. There’s a lovely coffee note to this. I’m a coffee-lover as well as a tea-lover, so this satisfies both cravings. I think I taste a little nuttiness and a little bit of chocolate. There’s some vanilla in there somewhere.

Also, I looked up “crocant” because I had no idea what it was. Somehow, Google has been of very little help to me but I’m thinking, based on search results, that “crocant” is derived from the French word “croquant” meaning crispy and that “crocant bits” are little crispy… bits. They seem to be used in chocolates and with nougat. :9 (Can anyone clarify??)

With little crispy bits in mind, I think there’s a puffy, wafery kind of undertone to this tea. All around, this tastes like dessert – a puffy, chocolate-dusted, coffee dessert. Oh. That’s what tiramisu is, isn’t it? Well done, SensibiliTeas. Well done.

I have only had Tiramisu once. This is how it smelled. The description is very true to the cup! Both in smell and taste. I wasn’t sure about it at first because it did remind me of a coffee taste but it’s growing on me. Not something I would drink often but maybe if I was in the mood for something a little freaky. LOL

fcmonroe

Have you had the Rooibos Tiramisu? I’m wondering how it compares to that tea.

RubySlipperLady

good description. based on that I think I’ll get some for my cousin who likes coffee and tea, thanks!

Not sure HOW I did it…but I seemed to get the perfect steep this time around…shouldn’t paid more attention while infusing and lightened up on the multitasking, eh!? LOL

I tried this again today…lemon and lime and green tea…yes…it’s tad better than I remember it…plus 2 points on my rating…

This has a Lemon-Lime Soda minus the Carbonation type sniff to it…paired with a lovely perfume scent. My first sip I was blown away – not expecting that sort of taste – so I gave it a 2nd chance – and it made much more sense. Perhaps I had to cleanse my palate from previous teas I have consumed today. Regardless…I taste Green Tea, I taste Lime, I taste Lemon, and a bit of a veggie taste…almost a celery-esque flavor.

This is unlike any tea I have ever tasted and glad I had the opportunity – thanks to MandyB!

I’m also very excited that a portion of the sales goes to a worthy cause.

Finishing up my stash of this lovely number today.

It’s more minty than before with less chocolate…just a slight hint of chocolate…regardless it’s a good cuppa…sorry to see it go!
