This really hit the spot at last night’s tree lighting and musical stroll downtown. I actually had to wait 20+ min in line at the Green Bean and then another 5 after ordering to get it, and missed most of the band’s set. :-( But I was cold and thirsty and this was very good nonetheless. I had it with honey, no cinnamon.
OMG…so my last post was my 1500th tasting note…so this makes 1501!!!
Decided to try the Red Latte version of the Redespresso and it’s very interesting…very smooth but very VERY sweet. I used agave nectar instead of honey. I added enough cinnamon to top the entire surface of the mug. It’s cinnamon, indeed! This tastes almost candied! I would surely try this again!!!
Ahhhh…we meet again!
I STILL have like a pound of this! WOW! Yup! Look for this in your packages!
I will keep some but I have way too much to keep in my stash :)
Okay…so…are you ready for this? Not only did I think outside the teabag on this one…or infuser…or whatever…I also added ingredients to it!
I know…right?
Are you shocked yet?
Most of you know that I don’t put anything in my tea. Nothing.
Today I finally tried this Red Espresso after it has been sitting in my pile at home (and I think I have an even bigger package at work that I haven’t opened) and faked a french press and used my IngeniTEA instead.
Not only did I try that…but I also added MILK, Agave Nectar, AND Cinnamon to it!!! WOW! Shocked yet???
It ended up being very tasty and VERY sweet! Almost like a dessert in a cup. I really liked the Red Latte attempt tonight. I will try other recipes with this soon to compare tastes.
After delaying my first attempt with this I ended up being extremely surprised!
Preparation
I had rooibos twice and wonder why they had very different flavors! One was with milk and tasted very much like cocoa. The other one I can recall much of it. It was not bad but nothing interesting. And when I had it, I was surprised to learn it was “also” rooibos.
@ Cofftea – With these added ingredients it didn’t taste like Rooibos at all.
@ Ricky – It was a recipe on their website – thought I would “Think outside my regular cup” so to speak
I tried a 2nd cup with less of everything – ‘barely there’ and added a little cocoa powder and it tasted much more like coffee.
I’ve had red espresso drinks in cafes before, but never tried to make my own. I know the one place I used to get them (now out of business) used a second dedicated cappuchino machine for redespresso drinks. I wonder if my IngenuiTEA and a cheap milk frother would make a reasonable approximation… thanks for sharing your successful method and getting me thinking….
Which part of the name does this most taste like, rooibos or espresso? If it tastes more like rooibos to they just call it rooibos espresso because it’s concentrated?
I think it’s more like a creamy, sweet espresso – especially the more milk and agave nectar or honey you put in…Basically…they call it that because it’s made of Rooibos…a good alternative for those who are hooked on the coffee thing…they have over 20 recipes on their website…I find them interesting and am going to try them if and when I can. They intrigue me now…LOL…
