Naked Teas

To me this tasted more like a floral white peony than a flavored white tea. I was rather disappointed.

My Amoda Tea order came in! I ordered several herbals and one caffinated tea. I am doing so well getting through my older teas that I felt I could get some herbals in my cupboard. They are 10g samples, so I will be able to finish them off in no time.

This is a generic red rooibos. I get some hints of something smooth (vanilla) and a bit of woody sweetness, but no strong caramel and creamy vanilla flavours. My next cup will be cooler water since this cup was with boiling water (hotter water brings out the rooibos while cooler water brings out a more balanced flavour).

This was one that I kept adding and removing from my cart whilst deliberating and placing my order because my gut was telling me that it wasn’t going to be the greatest, and I was right. It’s pretty much what I imagined: red berries with a dash of hibiscus. No maple. The base isn’t as astringent as I was expecting it to be considering it’s a Ceylon. Overall, this blend isn’t anything special. It tastes like a bagged tea I’d have at a restaurant when I’d feel like something more than water but calorie-free, you know? Not so memorable. I’m glad I only went wit the 10g size because I won’t be missing it once it’s gone.

I got this in my very first Amoda Tea subscription box. This blend comes from Naked Teas, which I haven’t tried before. This blend is a quality tea, rich in flavor, smooth, fragrant, big leaves and pieces. The loose leaf is definitely beautiful to look at with cornflowers and apple pieces and little New England blueberries. I definitely taste the berry flavors, especially blueberry. The black tea base is starchier than I usually expect from a Ceylon, which might be part of the “waffles” aspect of this blend. There’s next to no maple syrup flavor, but the blend is smooth and very gently sweet. I think this is closer to a blueberry black tea, or maybe a blueberry scone tea. It’s a cute idea and a cute name, and well worth a try if you like bright, breakfast, berry flavors.

Even as a cold brew this was strong on the rooibos flavor. There is a faint layer of lemon flavoring above a much greater layer of sweet, fruity rooibos. Definitely not great but still fun to try especially given its a relatively unique flavor combo. If only it were executed better.

Hot this was 100% rooibos. As it cooled, it took on a sweeter, fruitier taste with the tiniest lemon zip at the end of the sip. Again, nothing to write home about but the sample won’t be that hard to get through, especially seeing as the last of it is currently cold brewing for tomorrow.

I can taste the lemongrass only very slightly here, and I’m not as familiar with mango to know the flavor well. It may be there but I’m not sure if I’m tasting it. There is something juicy at the end of each sip so perhaps that’s the mango. Mostly I’m just tasting the rooibos, but I’m okay with that since it has good flavor on its own. I don’t think I’ve had red rooibos in a while so I had forgotten how much I enjoy it.
