Ooo, I still really like this one. It’s less mega-floral in my travel mug, but it’s still delightful and complex.
I think I might like it more with milk in it, but I’m trying to not have milks in my travel mugs due to accidentally making butter. Or cheese. Something chunky anyways.
Preparation
When the tea I really wanted to try ended up being a green (what reading comprehension!) and the kettle was already boiled, I went for this one.
Violets, lotus, grapefruit, and rose. What an unusual combination! Smells like violets and fresh grapefruit oil. Just amazing. Once steeped, it takes on a bit of a pithy smell, but still good. I added milk, because why the heck not.
It is QUITE floral. I’ll agree with Sil and MissB. But wow, what a delicious combination. This one will be difficult to part with, but I know that Bear With Me and Crowkettle will both appreciate the floral. :)
Thanks so much for sharing, MissB and for mailing it to me, Sil! :)
Preparation
floral tea incoming… another from missB that i was NOT excited about hahaha. while i am a fan of raspeberry, i’m not such a fan of the floral side of teas. BUT! you never know until you try, since i’ve had a few cups of things i wouldn’t normally drink be wonderful. This tea though, doesn’t fall in to that category for me. It’s a little too floral for me and not nearly raspberry enough for me to overcome the other side of the tea. Sorry MissB, this isn’t for me…but hopefully one of the others will love it! :) it IS, in typical french tea fashion, smooth and really nicely blended.
Another from MissB yes there’s a theme today since i desperately need to be able to pack up her latestet teas to get them out to the west coast crew and the others on this side of the country. I’ve had them for a bit so i really want to get them out to share.
This one, i was pleasantly surprised by. I despise the goji berries that verdant added to their chai – i pick them out every time because of the way it makes the chai taste. This tea though? really quite nice. Again, greens aren’t my favourite tea but this is a really pleasant cup to drink. it’s simple and delicious. thanks for sharing missb!
Another from MissB this one is a green/black blend. I am finding this one to have a floral presence….i get a little of the cardamom but it’s largely orange, fruity and floral. There’s a bit of a spice note there too but it’s very subtle. At least it’s not drowning in rose :)
Thanks for the share MissB!
another one that just isn’t for me but i’m glad missB enjoyed it. I like the uniqueness of this one, but there’s something in this one that just makes the whole thing taste weird…it’s not the ginger…that’s neat…it was maybe the banana…not that i normally mind banana… not too sure. thanks for the share Missb!
Final Count: 148
wow. another from MissB and i have to say this was like a trip down memory lane to when i first started drinking loose leaf tea and my favourite tea ever was madam butterfly from the tea emporium here in toronto. this tea…smells exactly like it, only with a bit of pineapple that comes through. While i’m a little tired of that flavour, it was nice to revisit a memory and try and new take on it. thanks for sharing missb!
noms. this is one from MissB and it’s super tasty. It reminds me of another tea though, that i can’t place and it’s driving me crazy. Maybe one of bayswaters teas? This one is less nutty though…and more sweet, maple..that’s been watered down. It’s not maple syrup…it’s more like something with an echo of maple on it. Delicious though! and a rather enjoyable flavoured cup! thanks missb!
i was SUPPPPEEEEEEEEEEER excited when MissB told us she had found this one in her travels. Like HOLY GET THAT PLEASE! because pineapple? yes. curry? interesting….different…YAY! As it turns out, i think this may end up being a blend that indigobloom likes…but then, maybe not lol. this one smells a great deal like pineapple something. yes. something. brewed though….i kept tasting peach. and i’m tired of peach. it was peach and then not peach and then something else…but never pineapple and not what in my head a curry tea would taste like. But it wasn’t terrible…just..not what i expected…or built in my head. and peach? bah. no peach! clearly my tastebuds are duds today.
Another tea from the magic MissB box of goodies! I have a bunch that i need to work my way through a little faster, but i just haven’t had time to settle in and take a look at them as much as i’d like. I picked out two today and did manage to drink them but that was hours ago and since then i got seriously distracted planning an epic road trip this weekend haha.
first off, i am brewing all these at a cooler temp than the instructions mention – i just can’t bring myself to do 200 for greens. Secondly…most of these are greens, which are not my favourite, but as with all teas, i’m keeping an open mind.
This one was actually pretty interesting. There was most assuredly ginger in this one…though not enough for my tastes :) it also smells a lot like one of the herbals i have from tea gschwender…but tastes nothing like it. this is lemon and ginger and a little hint of pepper…but the flavours are subtle. Too subtle for me..but still a tasty cup! thanks a bunch missB!
someone mixed u my organisation and i ended up drinking this one again tonight even though i’d moved it out of my cupboard. boo. double boo because i’m not a huge fan and would prefer to pass it along in case someone else loves it. oopsy. what can i say? not my fault! this one is just still weird for me
this one is another from missB Really not sure how i feel about it… it’s mostly just weird. There’s a bit of a heft to it..but at the same time, it’s fruity. There are some floral notes in here as well that i’m not sure i like. Hoenstly…hard pressed to say WHAT this tastes like… weird.
another from MissB i had this one with dinner tonight and it was mostly just vanilla to me. I wasn’t getting a whole lot of chocolate or almond…not that i’m complaining since i do love me some vanilla..but that it was i tasted. The rest is off to whatshesaid as part of the package missb sent for us!
Seriously missB just pick up another 100g of this stuff. I’m having one last small cup of this before the rest gets put in the box for whatshesaid and it’s SO HARD to let go…. this is different than some of the other caramel teas that i love…but so yummy in it’s own unique way. I just love the crap out of this one. YUM!
this is another from missB that she sent on for whatshesaid. Given the smell, i couldn’t simply pass it on without trying a bit, so i snuck a tiny cups worth from the bag to try. This one will be hard to let go. hahah it’s a delicious hazelnut, vanilla. Probably one of the best that i’ve had in a while.
As the Frenchman said to me as I made this for him, “Hm, this is really good!” It is. Yes, it’s most likely Dammann Frères blend. Thick, rich, fruity, and honeyed – again, without any sweetener whatsoever. Resteeped really well, too.
Flavors: Stonefruit, Thick
Preparation
Grabbed this one for Sil, as it’s likely a Dammann Frères blend, and stole a tiny bit to try for myself. It’s good, really good! Even unsweetened it’s thick and syrupy, full bodied and luscious. I may need to find more of this at some point, if I get through the rest of the teas I’ve been hoarding … carrying 50+ different kinds of tea on while traveling indefinitely must point to some form of addiction.
Flavors: Caramel, Thick
Preparation
Gah, another one goes on the wishlist. Now that I’ve found a great vanilla tea, I’m on a quest for a great caramel one.
totally going to not share much of this one with the others… i’m calling it my payment for divying up things and sending it all out lol
Ok I need to tour Europe. This clinches it. (all for the tea. well, and the sightseeing/culture as an added bonus haha)
An amazingly delicate and sweet cup, with only a touch of sweetener added to get the fruits to pop. I get a juicy pineapple mango tea, don’t quite get mango or passionfruit except maybe in the aftertaste. Was given this as a (large, resealable) free sample with my first visit, at the strong urging of the staff member to try it. Yep, I’m finding this staff dude again for more recommendations.
Flavors: Mango, Pineapple
Forgot to review this! Slight ginger spice/bite to this tea, but not enough (for me). I understand why it was called this – a very subtle tea, that I can see being made into a cocktail or fizzy drink quite easily. A bit more complex than your basic lemon ginger tea, but only slightly.
Flavors: Ginger, Hay, Lemon
Once, at an old job, it was my job to arrange catering for all of the meetings in the department – usually, this meant I spent most of my days in the kitchen, cleaning cafetieres and arranging biscuits nicely on serving plates. It was awful. Sometimes, a meeting would run longer than I was paid to be there, so I’d have to pop in first thing in the morning and clear the teacups and stuff from the rooms. This was normally fine, except when a meeting would run late on a Friday and I’d have to leave the bits over the weekend. I came in to find a small metal jug of what looked rather like soft cheese in place of the milk a few times. Appetising.
(I really don’t miss that job.)
That’s kinda disgusting that they wouldn’t pay you to stay and clear things. :/ I’ve worked places where we had that job description but when that person had to go home others would pitch in and help clean up. Thankfully.
