Brought this to work with me as I wasn’t feeling well and this tea always makes me feel better. It’s a pretty simple flavor that’s soothing if your throat is sore. Too bad I can’t just order 2 oz of this loose ….

Drank this last night, got it cause it was on sale cheap and the packaging was unique enough that it intrigued me. Was better than I expected. I will have to drink this while “steepstering” (yes, it is now a verb!) so I can properly record things here.

Smooth and minty doesn’t nail my taste buds screaming “MINT” quite like other mints have before…

The Early July TeaLog Catchup !

I mentioned last time that I needed to add some additional black tea to this chai. I chose an assam because a ceylon didn’t feel strong enough for the spices and I wasn’t sure about using a black teas blend, though I might experiment in the future. I decreased the steep time to that recommended for the assam. And I was rewarded with a much better cup. This chai is still heavy on the ginger. Especially so in the second steep.

2nd steep: 20+ mins.

Rating: 67 (upper nice range)

The Early July TeaLog Catchup !

So even though I haven’t logged this one before, I’ve drank it exactly once before. And what I remember was – light watery chai, needs black tea.

So even thought I remember this, it had been such a long time since I drank it before that I thought I’d try it again plain. I also could not remember how long I steeped it before but do remember thinking a longer steep might help.

So five minutes and plain with no additional black tea. This time I got chai – mostly ginger, some cardamon and black pepper – and some black tea. Definitely still needs an additional bit of black tea, but the chai is stronger than I remember. I have higher hopes for this one now with some tinkering.

The second steep was very light and gingery but I love me some ginger so warm gingery water is decently good to me.

2nd steep: 20+ mins.

Definitely a black tea. A little more biting than I usually go for, but that could very well be due to the temperature and time I steeped it at. It’s got a really nice reddish brown color in the cup.

The taste reminds me of campfire coffee, without the coffee bitterness. Not my absolute favorite, but if someone offered it to me, I’d take it!

The throw away tea infuser is nice for when I’ve forgotten my hardware at home after taking it home for cleaning. Basically I bought this as a back up for when forgetfulness happens so i can leave the tin at work and still drink some tea.

This is definitely a black tea, smells strong especially when drinking it after the Bai-Lan Kung-Fu from Shang Tea that I typed about earlier today. This is robust and strong when brewed in a small mug. The aroma starts with some wood and something slight subtle darkly sweet… maybe hints of brown sugar? It is only a hint, but I am getting something there.

Taste is a nice combination of typical black tea with almost a coffee note right after swallowing. My mouth feels dry afterwards as well which I definitely notice with some teas. It is a solid, but not superior black tea in my opinion.

All in all a fine back-up bagged tea for when you forget your hardware at home.

One of my favorite Chais (and at different times, my favorite). Not to mention, the “Exclusive Delivery System” affords you the ability to look pretentious even while drinking from a paper cup at work.

I finally found this tea I got from a swap with loupea. I brought this to work, and it was mellow and rich. This is some dark tea, too. Once it cooled a little, it becomes tastier. I would consider buying this for work, excellent bagged tea. I really enjoyed this tea.

I’m getting down to the last few bags in the tin, and I’m really going to miss this one. Not sure if I’ll want to shell out the money to replace it though… I guess time will tell!

Drinking this again today… it’s so nice to have a higher-quality black tea for work! I tend to drink so many flavoured teas because the bagged black blends I have just aren’t that great (I need to start bringing more loose teas to work again). This tea holds up well to over-steeping too, which is an added bonus!

The CFO gave me her box of this today, since I guess she bought it for the pretty packaging and then realized she would probably not manage to drink it before it went stale. Everyone at work knows how much I love tea, so that finally paid off!

At first taste, I wasn’t overly impressed (especially with such fancy packaging—I really expected to be blown away), but this is a really solid black tea blend. Partway through the cup I realized that it was actually pretty good. I don’t know that I’d buy it again (I’m assuming it was pretty expensive), but I will definitely enjoy the rest of the box!

Despite some initial difficulties with the “exclusive delivery system” (I’m kind of an idiot), this brewed up to a fine – if more subtle – masala chai. I attribute the subtlety to the saffron and rose petal inclusion, yet there wasn’t much of a floral presence to speak of. All in all, decent. Just be careful with the brew-tache wings, they can slip.

I’ve been eyeing this one…but now fully admit to being intimidated by this “exclusive delivery system” you speak of…I think I may need to read the label better, cause I’m really not sure I can handle tea with “wings”. Just sounds kinda wrong.

It’s easier than it looks. But – still – an almost totally needless feature. Just be loose leaf already. heh

Thought the packaging was kinda weird. But tea is very minty, although more peppermint and not as strong as actual mint. Smooth and refreshing.

loupea

Glad you liked it. Was the container weird for you or was it the tea bag?

Elyse

the bag thing is weird. I have really big tea mugs so it wasn’t wide enough to stay up anyway.

Just made the last cup of this. I am not a huge fan of chai, but of chais, this is my favorite. Also, this is the first cup of tea my husband and I ever had together, so I’ll never be able to judge it objectively.

This Darjeeling smells a little sweeter than the ones I’m used to. It’s a little drying in the mouth and has a faintly sweet flavor. I do love the little built in infuser bit. It’s cute & clever and makes this a great tea for travel.

This is one of my favorite black teas. I know a black tea is exceptionally good when I don’t even want to put lemon in it and I love the lemon/black tea taste so much.

The word that comes to mind for this tea is crisp. It’s refreshing and bright.
