ew. ok so i don’t love darjeelings much in the first place…but this, with the added flavouring is just ick. it’s got a nice aroma brewed, but taste wise this just isn’t for me, even brewed at a very low temp. it’s got a weird almost bitterness to it that makes for a rather jarring taste experience. Happy to try new teas but this one is NOT for me either. Sorry MissB/omgsrsly!
Thank you, MissB!
Sadly this isn’t for me. I was really careful steeping due to the greenness of the leaves, but alas, that didn’t work.
It’s actually quite green tasting, maybe a little like spinach water. And it’s pretty astringent, making my teeth and tongue feel weird. The lemon is fairly bright and citrusy, but also reminiscent of lemon cleaning products. I think it would have been helped by some lemon peel pieces in with the leaves, to make the lemon a little more truly lemon.
Unfortunately, I tend to not like darjeelings because of the fact that they can be so finicky and they are so green and astringent. I was hoping this would be different for me, as the dry leaves smell like lemon and spring.
Oh well. I’m glad I got to try. Thanks so much for sharing!
First flush, right? I always find them pretty tricky, Ive never had one that really wows me
Or rather, I probably dont know how to brew them correctly
i treat most darjeelings like green teas…this one is just…not a nice blend lol
Yeah, it was weird. Glad I got to try it though. I think I prefer specific floral green darjeelings, not flavoured ones…
Ha sorry if I came across in any way patronising, I was talking about my failure to get first flush up to my standards of chinese & Taiwanese. I’m going to get very anal with the temperatures to try to see what I can get. In fact im going to try now
rasseru – didn’t come across that way at all :)
