This is a very nice breakfast tea. I often have it in the afternoon with Pepperidge Farm cookies as well. It is not as strong as some keemuns, being lighter in cocoa notes and lacking smokiness as well. This is a great keemun for people who don’t like strong keemuns. They say it has red wine or muscatel flavors, but so far I haven’t picked that up. I will have to try to sharpen my senses….
Preparation
Yes, it is almost 1am. Yes, I am drinking black tea….no, I’m not sure if I will be sleeping anytime soon.
I needed something strong to get the grass taste out of my mouth after the sencha fiasco…this is working and is also very good.
Okay, silly question: This tea tastes remarkably similar to the Golden Monkey sample I’ve had. I know that Golden Monkey is from a Yunnan, but do they do anything special to it for the tea to be called Golden Monkey? Or is this Yunnan pretty much the same thing?
Preparation
This is a decent, basic black tea. I tend to like my blacks teas a little bolder, but this will do in a pinch.
On the plus side, I should be receiving some awesome teas in the mail soon! I placed a small order with Harney and Sons and 52teas this morning!
Congrats! You are a winner of Chrine’s First Comment Contest. I think I made a mistake just announcing it in a comment after a tealog and not PMing the winners as well. So here is a PM and the original comment is below. Please PM me your addresses and let me know if you’re interested in any teas in my cupboard as well. (I don’t think you’re following me, so I couldn’t PM you.)

And the winners are… mrawlins and Alannah (courtesy of http://www.random.org/lists/). Please PM me your mailing addresses and let me know if there is anything else in my cupboard you might be interested in trying (dependent on amount left, etc.).
An update now that the full review is up: http://www.itsallabouttheleaf.com/1642/tea-review-grace-tea-company-connoisseur-master-blend-2/
Expect a longer review later on www.itsallabouttheleaf.com (I’ll update as I see it posted) but this is one mighty intriguing blend - I continue to be fascinated that blended tea without further flavorings or additives can taste like a million different things.
Preparation
Another from TEAEQUALSBLISS. This is a British legacy style tea – strong, with dark flavors, not astringent but full bodied. It takes milk and sugar very well, so I think I would be likely to use it for breakfast or with a hearty tea-time snack, but probably not with more delicate tea cookies or cakes. It would also go well with a meal. Be careful with your timing on this one! Oversteeps easily, but worth watching the clock for.
Preparation
This is slightly musky scent…maybe more like a black tea and dry ice type smell??? Not sure…
It’s VERY dark in color.
This is an extremely bold BLACK tea – nice for the mornings – great for corporate meetings as a coffee alternative – ideal for that afternoon pick-me-up…and so on!
Different but interesting and purposeful
:)
Again, I’m keeping these posting notes short and sweet because I can’t really taste anything…what ever this is I hope none of you get it…it SUCKS!
Anyhow this is very smooth on the tongue, throat, and I really hope to drink more comforting teas thru-out the day. Let the Tea Healing Begin!!!!!
Do you have anything with ginger in it? I know you’re not a big fan of ginger, but when I’m feeling sick, I find that a strong ginger tea really helps when I’m sick – plus, with the muted taste buds, it is something that I’m able to taste.
This tea reminds me of when…
…you really want to meet someone because you HEARD they were nice and when you actually meet them they are everything you HEARD they would be but at the same time they aren’t over-the-top eccentric but they are far from boring.
I’m going to be reviewing in more length TOMORROW…here…

I’m finishing up the last of this tea this morning. It is still good, but I don’t think I’ll repurchase. The tea has been edging on more astringency than necessary the past few cups I’ve had of this. I enjoyed it while it lasted, but there are other teas I’d rather have in my cupboard.
Seriously, though, if you enjoy red wine even a little, this tea is a must try!
