Got this in a lunch order I wanna say… last week?
I see this brand in grocery stores all the time and for some reason I’ve always just passed them over, which feels very unlike me and I can’t really explain why. I thought this one tasted fine enough. It’s a white tea base which is a little more unique in RTD, but I didn’t feel like I could actually taste the tea much. It was just a very, very light and refreshing drink with a peach note that tasted mostly like thinned out peach juice. Natural though! Just thin.
I get this sometimes for lunch. I rarely every buy anything to drink for lunch because quite often I find it a waste of money (I’m quite happy to just have water or make tea when I’m back in the office), but sometimes I make an exception for this. It’s very yummy tasting: the black tea is paired with a balanced amout of lemon, and the best part is that it’s not overly sweetened. Very enjoyable!
Edit: Also, I’m a sucker for glass bottled drinks…
I did the math: if I buy a tea that’s $20/50g (an expensive tea!), get 15 “servings” of leaf out of it, and resteep the leaves 2x most times (so say, 40 cups of tea total for 50g ) that’s still only $0.50 a cup! And that’s expensive tea and using conservative numbers. For that reason I cannot justify going to places and buying 2-4$ drinks when I can use my high quality teas for a fraction of the cost.
It is nice buying a treat once in a while though! ;)
This tastes like candy, but I hardly taste any hibiscus in this, so it’s really not a tea/tisane, anyway. Sweet mango with a touch of mango. Even though this has way less sugar than pop or other mass-produced iced teas, it’s still really sweet. No regrets buying this, though.
The local Save-On-Foods had these on sale so I picked a couple bottles up for me and the boyfriend. This one is a little bit on the sweet side, especially now that I’ve gotten used to making my own iced teas which allows me to regulate the sugar. It’s still far better than a can of Lipton Brisk in that regard though. The blueberry flavour is distinct though maybe a tad artificial which is a odd as this tea only had natural flavourings. It makes a nice refreshing drink on a hot summer day like this.
Preparation
I grabbed this bottled iced tea at the grocery store. Mostly because it was in an awesome old skool bottle.
I wasn’t expecting terribly much out of the taste based on the ingredients. But it is actually pretty decent. It is one of the most authentic bottled brewed iced tea drinks I can recall having. The base tastes like orange pekoe but I am unsure if that is what it is. There is some sweetness but it is not so sweet that all you get is the sugar. You can actually taste the tea! There is also that artificial lemon flavour most bottled teas have, but it is not too bad at all.
Well Good Drink, I am not sure this is too Good for me based on the 60 cals per 1 cup, and considering the bottle is 473 mL it is basically 120 cals…but I am still going to drink it anyway :)
I was feeling thirsty when I was shopping at the local produce store and this caught my eye. I decided to buy it because I like mango and this had considerably less sugar involved than the standard sweetened iced teas like Lipton or Snapple. Also Good Drink is apparently a Canadian company and I like supporting domestic businesses.
Sadly it doesn’t seem to contain any actual mango besides the ‘natural flavouring’ and while it isn’t a bad tasting tea, it feels like false advertising to me. I’m not a hibiscus lover, but this does taste quite nice, lightly tart but it’s not trying to stage a hostile take-over of the rest of the tea. It’s likely the cause of the tea’s orangey-red colour – which is better than food colouring I suppose. The sweet-but-not-too-sweet vanilla flavour is probably what I like most about the tea, as it gives it an almost cream soda-like flavour.
So it didn’t blow my mind but it didn’t make me want to dump it down the sink either. It’s nicely thirst-quenching and it has a good-tasting flavour – thought it could be more authentic in terms of the mango content.
