Recent Tasting Notes

So a few months ago a new bubble tea shop place opened up here in Montreal. Now, that’s not a particularly uncommon thing in this city that is just packed with different bubble tea shops. However, this shop has something that definitely makes it stand out among the others, and that’s the aesthetic of the shop itself. Basically, it’s a black and white 2D cafe…

I feel like it’s a bit hard to explain what exactly that looks like, so here’s a giant google image link that’ll do that for me:

https://www.google.com/search?q=2d+cafe&tbm=isch&ved=2ahUKEwi0ufqzxNH4AhUmn3IEHU2DBRAQ2-cCegQIABAA&oq=2d+cafe&gs_lcp=CgNpbWcQAzIFCAAQgAQyBQgAEIAEMgUIABCABDIFCAAQgAQyBQgAEIAEMgUIABCABDIFCAAQgAQyBQgAEIAEMgUIABCABDIFCAAQgAQ6BAgAEEM6BwgAELEDEEM6CAgAEIAEELEDOgsIABCABBCxAxCDAToICAAQsQMQgwFQtRdY6iNg4yloAHAAeACAAaUGiAGUFpIBBzItNS42LTKYAQCgAQGqAQtnd3Mtd2l6LWltZ8ABAQ&sclient=img&ei=La67YvTuIaa-ytMPzYaWgAE

Anyway, I finally went yesterday and I have to say that I think it’s worth the hype! The place looks really fucking cool. The menu itself is pretty simple so I stuck with their signature charcoal milk tea, which has brown sugar boba and a milk base and then a black tea addition that’s mixed with charcoal to create a black/white layered boba to fit the look of the cafe. It was very pretty. Taste wise, I don’t think it’s exception but it definitely didn’t seem bad quality either – just a nice brown sugar milk tea flavour with pretty chewy boba. Just the right texture for the boba, actually!

I would go again, though now that I’ve experienced it I don’t think I’d feel the need to frequent the place unlike some of my other favourite bubble tea shops in the city.

The charcoal isn’t gritty?
