Chai Baby

Loved this masala chai tea, very high quality black tea leaves. I added chai spices (got spices here: https://rawspicebar.com/collections/spices/) to give it an extra peppery kick of spice, plus steamed whole milk. Perfection.

This bag is more lemony than the other (2 bag sample); I watched the time on this one much more closely. Either this tea has to be timed carefully, or the bags have varying amounts of the ingredients. This reminds me of the Republic of Tea’s Get Happy, except the white tea makes for a less dense base than the rooibos does.

Mildly lemony. The white tea base is just okay. Not bad, but I wouldn’t get more.

Actually looked at the bag this time…looked like much more chamomile than rooibos. Again, the strongest taste is the hibiscus. It’s okay, but I’m not sad to see it go. There are rooibos blends that are much better.

I steep for 10 minutes. Flavors of hibiscus and rooibos are the strongest.

Well, this is one of the best bagged chais that I’ve tried. Not very complex, but warm and inviting on a cold morning. I taste mostly clove, cinnamon and the black tea base. When I first looked at the bag I thought they went a little skimpy on the spices and black tea. After steeping, I was pretty happy to see that the black tea Chai Baby used was of fairly decent quality. The tea leaves fully expanded in the sachet and took up most of the space. I still prefer to make chai traditionally, but this one will work in a pinch. Taken with milk and sugar…I still think it was a little on the weak side. But then again, I like my chais very strong.

Yummy! I’m picky about chai, and I like this one! It’s not very potent, but the spices that do come through are really nice. I taste them mostly after I swallow. It’s also pleasantly sweet – but not too sweet. It could be stronger, but I added milk and that may have watered down the flavors. But then, what’s chai without milk? So, maybe I should try again and steep it longer.

I actually kind of like this! (Read description/ingredients)

Now…I’m not saying it will be an 80 or above but considering that I usually don’t go for any or many of those ingredients this blend – blended well. Nothing was too overpowering and it was enjoyable and didn’t make me do a funny face while drinking.

Sure, it was a little more fruitier than the other ingredients but like I said it’s wasn’t over powering. I started sipping whole hot and it was alright and then had the 2nd half of the cup iced and like it iced better.

I had no idea I still had a bag of this. It literally popped up out of no where! Yeah…I’m thinking at least 3 years MIA. Ah well…bottom’s up!

All things considered – this is pretty darned tasty! I’m actually increasing the rating because it held up so well! Impressive!

I’m so pleased these spices all blend well together. Eventho it’s a bolder brew it’s good to know that not 1 ingredient over powers the others! YAY!
