Thanks LauraR!
This tasting note isn’t a backlog – I’m drinking this now as it is getting quite late and I thought it would be a good night time blend. However, the taste is a little off somehow – bitter, maybe. The ginger in this is very predominant, as is the lemon myrtle. I’ve never had tulsi before, so I am assuming that this is the odd, underlying note in this tea.
Thank you to Jaime for sending me this one… it’s from our Secret Santa swap that I hadn’t yet had a chance to try yet!
This is really good. I like that it is a blend of both rooibos and honeybush, because I prefer the blend of the two than rooibos on its own. The spices are warm but not spicy-hot. A hint of pumpkin in the background… makes me long for Thanksgiving! Or at least Thanksgiving dinner! YUM!
I forgot that I included a cup of this in my morning ‘brew five cups at a time’ ritual (yeah, I work from home, this is my life), and when I took a random sip I was like what is this delicious drink?! If that’s not a ringing endorsement I don’t know what is.
Art of Tea does delightful things with rooibos, and I think this is their best. Delicious and sweet, like a pear-flavored dessert without the calories. The sweetness can get a wee bit cloying if you let it cool too much, but hot this is a cup of wondrous caramelly pear goodness. Recommended!
Preparation
Thank you Jaime for sending me this tea to try. To my surprise I am the first to review it. Overall a decent cup of tea. The peach flavor shows first and the lychee tapers in deep tones towards the end of the sip. Although it was a pretty decent cup I didn’t find it over the top and would probably not purchase any in the future. It is one of the those cups of tea that taste good at the moment but the memory fades once the cup is empty.
Preparation
Thanks, JoeCool (Nichole) for sharing! This is a delicate, delicious tea. It didn’t smell like much in the bag, nor as it brewed, but it packs a tasty punch for your taste palate. I taste sweet melon and a hint of jasmine. This is a great find, but I honestly don’t know if I would go out of my way to purchase it. Overall, a delight but not a must for me.
Yum! Something about the way they put this one together makes the flavor stand out more than I’m used to in white teas, it’s subtle but definitely present. This takes milk really well also – I like it best with a little chocolate soy milk for a nice chocolate coconut treat.
Preparation
Thank you LiberTeas for a taste of this! I brewed it for a hot drink with cream. I added a little sugar.
It just isn’t me. I like hibiscus if it’s iced. I couldn’t taste the red tea as well. I tasted a little white chocolate, and I am not the biggest fan of it. I love black currant, but I prefer it iced, too. I don’t think I would like this tea iced, either. The flavors together just weren’t for me.
Preparation
Downed a cuppa this early and almost forgot to log. It’s great. Nicely flavored Hojicha. I could pick up on the hazelnut more this time around

Thanks Prince
Well…this smells really wonderful with the roasted hojicha and the vanilla but I will say it’s quite the sight to see the post infused liquid…it’s really weird looking! It’s a murky gray-green-brown color…not the prettiest I have seen but let’s see what it tastes like..shall we?
The taste…It’s VERY creamy…very smooth and pretty tasty! If you are looking for a stereotypical hojicha…this isn’t really it…the vanilla does coat the roasted flavor quite a bit…but if that is what you are going for this has accomplished just that…a vanilla-creamy-hojicha. It’s a different kind kind of a cup but down right tasty, indeed!
(BACKLOG) This is quite good! Thank you to Jaime for the little sample! The smell is overwhelming at first! BLUEBERRY, BLUEBERRY, BLUEBERRY! I love the taste of blueberries and this definitely satisfied my need for a blueberry fix. I don’t know if I could taste the cheesecake, but more of a sour/odd flavor in the background. I was on the verge of saying “no” to the background taste.. but it makes it a bit more interesting. I suppose that I was concentrating on the sweet smell, taste and the blueberries and gulped it down too fast. I think I’ll have to try this one again (SLOWER this time) to see if I can get more of the cheesecake taste and not the cheesy-sour note. This is a pleasant dessert tea that requires no added sweetener. Yum!
I’m quite fond of Darjeeling, and I really liked this one. The aroma is fruity and flowery with a hint of caramel. Gives a lovely, pinkish-gold liquor. Flavor muscatel and sweet, tasting of plum, apple and honey. Possibly chestnut, something nutty or woody about it. The floral, rosy finish has a nice bit of pull.
Preparation
This is indeed a peculiar tea. The dry leaf is very very pretty, though to describe it as purple would require some imagination. The aroma is both earthy and spicy, smelling of tobacco and cinnamon. The flavor is full and complex; at first biscuity, almost tasting of potato, also peppery and musky. (I found that a shorter steeping time – say 2 1/2 minutes or so – gave a less potato-y brew.) The cinnamon-raisin note comes as an aftertaste, which is at the same time almost vegetal. I’ve never tasted a tea quite like this one, and was not initially turned on to it. After a few cups, however, I’ve grown to really like it. I think it would make a good breakfast tea.
Preparation
This is a great tea! It is one that I’ve been wanting to try for a long time! Thanks to Jaime for sending me some in my Secret Santa package, I am able to try it!
The flavor is really rich, creamy, slightly sweet, and malty. Delicious!

Preparation
I didn’t really have high hopes for this one – most flavoured rooibos tea I’ve tried tend to be mostly rooibos with not much ‘flavour’. This one was a pleasent surprise however, because what I tasted is pear – lots and lots of pear. Its real pear too, not an artifically-created approximate. I can almost feel the slightly gritty texture you get when you bite into a ripe pear as I sip this tea. The caramel is more subtle, a light sweetness than appears mostly as the tea cools off. I also love that I can hardly taste the red rooibos.
Preparation
I certainly had my doubts about this one – as I generally do when it comes to Pu-erh. But the aroma did not smell earthy like I usually expect a pu-erh to smell, so this relieved some of those doubts. Once brewed, there is a subtle earthy quality to the aroma that mingles with the scents of chocolate and coconut. It’s a earthy, nutty, coconut and cacao kind of smell and it intrigues me.
I steeped this in my gaiwan and used my “usual” steep times for pu-erh – which is about 30 – 40 seconds. This was NOT enough time, and so I returned it to steep an additional 2 minutes. This was perfect.
The flavor is very nice. Mild for a pu-erh. An almost powdery kind of taste to the cocoa notes, like cocoa powder. The coconut is the most prominent flavor. The pu-erh base is mellow with smooth earthy notes.
If all pu-erh teas tasted this good, I would not be as hesitant to try them!
THANK YOU to Jaime for including this in my Secret Santa box!
This is a decent green Earl Grey. The green tea base is quite astringent though. The green tea lends a fresh flavor that is a nice change from the usual Earl Grey. The bergamot is strong but does not overwhelm the green tea.

Oh, and PS: Thank you Jaime for including this in my Secret Santa box!
This is one of the teas that I received from Jaime in my Secret Santa package – thanks Jaime! Now that I can TASTE again, I can resume trying the little mystery teas from my package! yay!
This is really good. I love the way the peppermint and rose comes together. The flavor of the white tea is a little obscured by the rose and peppermint, but, it isn’t completely overwhelmed. The flavor is sweet, bright and crisp! It is minty but there is a good balance between mint and rose… the rose offsets the mint just enough to keep this from being too minty, and the mint offsets the rose enough so that it is not abundantly floral.
A very pleasant white tea!
