I super over-leafed this to get rid of it. It’s…fine. Like cooked spinach and snap peas. Also has kind of a latex thing going on that’s not super pleasant.

Ah, campsite. This embodies the earthiness of a pu er leaf while still holding to the slightly brisk features of a black leaf. IT is reminiscent of mahogany and damp wood. Rinsed once and then steeped with 140 F water. The wet leaf smell like wet twigs. Which I enjoy.

Samurai TTB #20

This is exactly the kind of green tea I love! Smooth and sweet with a mildly vegetal flavor and delightfully buttery mouthfeel. I’ve never even heard of this company, but I’d definitely consider placing an order to get my hands on more of this!

Advent Calendar Day 5

I love all the new companies I’m getting to sample via Amanda’s advent calendar this year! I’ve never even heard of Aera Tea, but this seems like a lovely, high-quality black tea. The leaves are long and twisted with lots of golden tips and it has nice rich aroma. The flavor was surprisingly delicate for a black tea, on the fruity end of things and very smooth. Not sure I’d go for this particular tea again, as I prefer more full-bodied black teas, but the quality of this one makes me curious to check out more from this brand!

From the Samurai TTB
I had low expectations from this black/shu blend, and I was pleasantly surprised. The dry leaf didn’t have much of an aroma, and the brewing instructions were 2 tsp for 8 oz for 4 minutes which brewed up nice and strong.
The first steep is chocolatey, dark, and a bit earthy. I like it, and it would be a good candidate to share with coffee drinkers who want to try a bit of tea. It’s very smooth, with a bit of dark chocolate caramel aftertaste lingering. This is not a bland or bitter cup of tea, and I might want to experiment with leaf and steep time, but overall I’m enjoying this cup the second steep is a bit lighter and less complex, but still chocolatey and slightly caramel.
Thanks for adding to the box!

I drank this a few days ago, and can’t remember much about it, other than I felt pretty neutral about it.

I saw this company on Instagram, and saw that they had free shipping. I caved and got a few samples to try. I’m not usually a huge white tea fan, but I’ve been trying to taste outside of my comfort zone. There is a sweet, orange blossom scent that’s really pleasant. Notes of hay and orange blossoms, with a bit of earthiness in the finish.
