294 Tasting Notes
After reading several notes about this tea I decided to brew it for 8 minutes with 1 teaspoon in a filtered cup. A very satisfying tea. Rich yet mellow. A very good afternoon or evening tea. I did not detect smoky flavors.
My first purchase from Zhi. I brewed up a pot with two spoonfuls and steeped for 4 minutes. I liked it but I think I should add more leaves and brew it for 5 minutes. I think it’s too soon to rate. My 2nd infusion is brewing now…. Ok, I should’nt be so shy with the tea leaves. Stay tuned for brew2… ps, the pot was a 4 cup Celestial Seasons Sleeytime pot. One note on the first infusion: The nose, it smelled like Christmas, PINE.
standard cupping volume is 3-4 grams per 6-8oz, or one tsp per 6oz, firts steep 3-4 min with 195-200 degree water and follow up with longer steeps. Don’t know if that helps, but I’ve been using a gram scale with ounce options now for a year – snuggled away in my portable gaiwan bag- and it helps keep the usage and volume questions down and lets me concentrate on flavors at a consistent level
