Mmmmm, Darjeeling!
This has a lighter, more delicate flavor than Darjeeling No. 22. I still like 22 better, but I wouldn’t say no if someone offered me a cup of this tea. Lightly sweet, with a faintly grassy taste. This tea is very coarse in texture, so it pays to add a larger volume when I steep.
This is the first unflavored white tea I’ve ever tried, so I wasn’t sure what to expect.
I like it!. The first sip was a little grassy tasting, but I am surprised by the intensity and fragrance of this cup. It seemed delicate at first sip, then intensified, as though my palate adjusted to it. I read Cofftea’s notes, and I agree, there is something like butter or toffee in the flavor.
OK, I think I must be doing something wrong here. I got a sample of this tea from Adagio today. My first attempt at brewing came out tasting of hot water. I set my Utilitea kettle for green tea, and steeped for three minutes by timer. It tasted like bathwater. I threw that steep out, and steeped again, adding much more tea, about 3 tbsps total for a two cup pot. This was somewhat better, but the result was just mildly sweet, without much in the way of a distinctive flavor.
I suspect this is operator error – my only previous experiences with green tea have been of the premeasured bagged variety. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Well Dragonwell is supposed to have a sort of a delicate, subtle taste to it.
I have this lying around but have yet to try it. I’ll get to it tomorrow and let you know if I notice anything different.
So I know comments were forever ago, but I had this Dragonwell this weekend, and you did nothing wrong, it tasted like hot water.

I opened the tin last night, and my first thought was "rabbit droppings! I used 5 balls for a small (about 16 oz) teapot. Mmm – smooth, malty, luxurious dark tea. I had this with a luxurious breakfast this morning – scrambled eggs with fines herbes, fresh figs and grapes with wheat toast. This is the life!
Hahaha, the rabbit droppings I’ve seen are smallish and look like little pellets. These must have come from a much larger animal.
Your breakfast sounds delightful. I had an english muffin. Not even close.
Wow…you made me feel really sad about skipping breakfast. I wasn’t a huge fan of the black dragon pearls (I was using 3 per cup and multi infusions) but your breakfast sounds totally fab!
@LENA F. I used three on my first go round but tried it with 5 on the second. [I brew by the cup, too, so 8 oz.] It was much improved that way.
When I opened my sample tin, there were a lot of big chunks of stuff on top, and the rooibos had filtered to the bottom of the tin. I stirred the tea up to distribute the ingredients better before brewing. I made this with frothed milk and honey.
Rich, strong and soothing, with a nice balance of spice. This was great after coming home from a late choir rehearsal.
Came back from a walk at the beach feeling absolutely parched for a cup of tea. This tea is exactly what i was looking for – bright, refreshing and very thirst quenching.
