147 Tasting Notes
I’m a little surprised this isn’t rated a little higher…reading the reviews It seems to me like it’s a misunderstood tea…and no one gets it. oh well…
I really really like this one.. enough to buy it in a larger quantity….I got the sample so….
And it’s my second cup of it today…so my sample is going faster than I expected!
Why drink 2 cups of this in September?? Well, I was designing Christmas cookies today (always gotta work 2 or 3 months ahead of the season) and I wasn’t feeling it…needed inspiration. So I brewed a cup of this….and I liked it so much I’m making it my evening cup.
I like the delicacy of white tea. When I opened the bag and smelled….it smelled like Christmas…and yes, there is sort of a strange sugar cookie, white chocolate peppermint smell…it smells like Christmas….it really does.
I use a lot of cardamom during the holiday season so I recognized it…but it’s so subtle here…as cardamom should be when used in something sweet…..if taken too liberally it can really be a BAM in your face kind of seasoning…which I love in Chai…but this wasn’t meant to be a chai….so here it seems to be leveled and balanced almost like it would be in baking.
I get the almond….a soft subtle sweet nuttiness…
And I get the vanilla. which is what I’m the most impressed with…it tastes and smells like vanilla bean..not extract or artificial flavoring…but bean…which is very different. It’s smooth and mellow and deliciously creamy.
the chamomile….I actually wasn’t even aware of it till the end…and I honestly think it just amplifies the subtle sweetness.
From a bakers perspective…I can best describe the taste as a lightly spiced almond cookie. I mean that’s almost exactly what it tastes like.
It’s one of those teas that changes with every sip….developing into a new page…like a new day in December….
It’s a very soft, comforting, wrap yourself in a cashmere sweater kind of sip and it brings me joy. It deserves my nice china tonight. I’m ordering more for the holiday for sure.
Preparation
So my Facebook page passed 10,000 Fans today….I am pretty pumped. After 4 years I’m finally in the 10’s! Huzzah!
So I felt like treating myself tonight…which I would usually do with a delicate oolong (because I love oolong….oh how I love oolong) or an expensive and rare tea….
But no…I went with this one. Because I wanted something SWEET! I wanted RED HOTS! (Have I mentioned cinnamon is my favorite? Like smell, ingredient, flavor, color…..) I’m a cinna-addict. I admit it!
And HOT DAMN! (I mean it) It’s like red hots….melted….in my cup. It’s sweet! I was NOT expecting that…
This really is a sugary treat!!
Wont be one I have all the time but def need to have more of this around when I need a candy like fix.
Pretty gooooood….. :)
Preparation
Ok. I adore this tea. I can’t even really explain why….it just speaks to me.
The smell in the bag is sweet, and comforting…like cake…
Then steeped….it’s oh so sippable. Even at it’s hottest it’s so delicious…delicate, balanced, a little fruit, a little creaminess..
Then it cools a bit and there’s this aroma of a little spice..it isn’t astringent or too strong or too weak or bitter…it’s perfect. I LOVE this tea.
I was very sad to hear Stacy say it might be going soon. Stacy when you are about to take it off the shelf let me know…I’ll buy the remainder of the stock because this is one of my can’t live without teas…I just feel a little joy with every sip.
Like I said on facebook…it’s amazeballs
Preparation
Tonight’s cup.
Opening the pouch, it smells really good. Very promising. I love Chai tea. I love spices…I really hope this is as good as it smells because I would really like to have an evening Chai alternative.
Anyway…it almost smells creamy. I’m going to guess that’s the coconut. And sweet….
….waiting…..
awe man….the flavors are good but SOOO WEAK!
Maybe I’ll try it again tomorrow and double it….
Preparation
I really like this one..hot it’s…ya know…un natural…I fell like hot fruit is unnatural…I mean unless it’s in a pie crust….
But it smells HEAVENLY citrus.
On ice it’s awesome! It’s like the best orange grapefruit strawberry juice I’ve ever had but not so dang sweet (which is why I never drink juice)
Will buy some more of this for when I want a refreshing cold something. :)
wow….am I really the first to rate this??
ok…. no pressure or anything…
Ok well hot….it’s pretty strong in flavor…little spinach…vegetal?…but def smooth. Sort of a thick mouthfeel if that makes sense. It smells slightly sweet and floral. The main taste is that strong spinach leafy taste…but then it develops into more of a floral….
Letting it cool a bit more…
hmm….it’s allright…nothing too special. Maybe I’m just expecting more for some reason. It IS brisk tho.
Second steep. Less spinach taste but now it seems almost bitter. It’s odd.
It’s not a bad tea…but nothing I think I HAVE to have.
I’ll have to give it a couple more tries before I can rate it
