So, since the leaves are pretty green in color (vs black) I decided to brew like a green tea—lower temperature. No idea if I should have done that for an oolong…but yeah. Then I promptly got distracted and left it steeping for WAY too long, probably 15 or 20 minutes. I expected to come back to a bitter mess.

On the contrary! It survived just fine, no bitterness. It has a floral/lightly citrus smell and taste. At least, when you brew at green tea temperatures, let steep for a stupidly long time, and take it with a bit of sugar.

I enjoyed this! I thought it smelled like coffee cake when I first opened up the sample I got, which was from the almond extract.

Delicious, intending to buy more.

Edit: I’m wrong, no almond extract. Still tasty.

Glad you liked it, but no Almond Extract in this tea! c:
The flavors are Vanilla, Caramel, Black Currants, and Bergamot.

I stand corrected. I only bought a sample and I didn’t look closely at any ingredient list. Guess my tongue needs more training!

Disgusting. I admit I’ve not had many Jasmine Green Teas, but blergh. ALL other teas I’ve tasted have been better than this.

It basically seems like they dumped non-food floral perfume into some tea leaves. Floral scent is very strong, but not in a good way. Yuck yuck yuck. It’s like licking cheap bath soap or something.

For the record, I got this from Marshall’s in Illinois. Probably shouldn’t have taken the chance. No idea where they source their food items.

drank Thai Chai by Adagio Teas

I got chai’d out maybe a year ago. I think I got a bunch of Tazo chai that was pretty strongly flavored, and after that I started avoiding chai.

But later I was visiting Adagio Tea in Skokie, IL, and I was trying various coconut teas. Even though I wasn’t into chai at the time, I tried their Thai chai, and I have to say it’s tasty enough to get me back into chais. I usually drink it hot, but I also find it’s almost tastier cooled so if you’re looking for an iced tea this could be pretty good for that, too. Versatile!

I wasn’t particularly enthralled by the first cup. But when I steeped my teabag for a second cup, I began to feel a tingling in my throat and tongue. Previously, I had only felt this with a tea that contained hazelnuts (a known allergen), but I looked at the ingredients on this one and this doesn’t seem to contain hazelnut. But it was the exact same feeling—not a good tingling, a “stop drinking right now” tingling. So now I have to figure out what exactly is causing this reaction in me.

Anyway, be cautious drinking this tea if you’ve experienced similar reactions to some teas in the past. This one might trigger it for you too.

All and all, this is a very consistent tasting Earl Grey. It’s not the best, but I know what I’m getting from it, and it always delivers. It’s fairly tolerant to me screwing up the brewing too by walking away and letting it steep too long.

This isn’t my favorite Earl Grey, but it’s a bit cheaper than the others I drink, I can find it at a Mariano’s close to home, and I can re-use the tins of the loose leaf version for my other teas that don’t come in tins.

Got a wee bit of this in a trade with CarolWho. I really like it! You can smell it right away, and I was afraid the taste would not match the smell (or would be bitter like an actual grapefruit—grapefruit is my least favorite citrus), but it didn’t, and it tasted very good. I think I may eventually be buying a bunch of this for myself.
