17 Tasting Notes
Very interesting tea from small farm in Africa. It is more of a oolong than black. The leaves are irregular in color, less or more dark. Taste is way too complex for a regular black. Still it possess astringency of African teas but with vegetable notes. I feel carrot, pumpkin, some herbs and spices. It’s worth giving a try. Don’t drink this tea hot. Let it cool down for few minutes and sip slowly. This way you will be able to adore its depth and complexity.
Flavors: Carrot, Citrusy, Herbs, Peppercorn, Pumpkin, Wet Earth
Preparation
Bought this one yesterday just because I am a big fan of Twinings and English blends in general. I am sadly disappointed. It’s hard to call it tea. It is just dusty powder, the one that you find in the cheapest teabags sold in markets. Smells and tastes like a typical, cheap Indian Assam CTC tea. What happened to Twinings? I love Gunpowder and Prince of Walles, I used to drink a lot of Lady Grey, but this one is complete disaster and shame to your company.
Flavors: Astringent, Dry Grass, Malt, Vegetal
Preparation
I was just looking around on here and ran across this review, and wanted to say I agree completely. I don’t drink that much commercial tea of this type but Twinings Earl Grey isn’t that bad while this tea is awful. It should be possible to get cheap Assam and Ceylon that are each better than this alone and even more balanced mixed. You might look into Halmari’s web page, especially their oolong version, which is not that far from decent second flush Darjeeling in style.
Very mild tea. Bergamot flavor is elusive, hidden, smothered. Smells like bergamot, but tastes like rose flakes sprayed with fresh spring rain. Sweet and comforting. Somehow it lacks body, strenght and character. Good choice for late evenings or for kids. Actually I find it difficult to describe how this tea taste like. It has flat yet complex. Although I give it strong 5 on a 10 point scale, this tea is worth trying. I will give it second chance.
Flavors: Citrus, Marshmallow, Orange Blossom, Rose, Sweet, Warm Grass
Preparation
Others here are right. It is one of the most powerful Earl Greys in term of scent out there. It can be easily overbrewed and turned it to harsh black liquid. One teaspoon for two cups of tea is definitely enough. If prepared properly, this tea tastes very well and pleasant. Fragrant but natural, strong yet soothing. It is all about how you prepare it.
Flavors: Bergamot, Citrusy, Sweet
Preparation
Very gentle, smooth and easy going green tea. It has no astringency nor biterness. There is a hint of sweetness in the background. I recommend this green tea for people who dislike green tea for its distinctive taste.
Flavors: Seaweed, Smoke, Smooth, Umami, Vegetal
