1113 Tasting Notes
One mighty fine earthy pu’er here.
This tea brews dark and strong. The aroma is not distinctive from other pu’er teas though. Really enjoyable taste for a strong shou but it is a bit dry. The steeping on this is much easier because it doesn’t take much to break up the leaf for a nice clean steep. Most appealing to this tea is the color and the pure earthy taste that comes with every sip. If it wasn’t for the dry mouth feel after a sip this would be fantastic. It isn’t impossible for a strong shou to be earthy and leave a semi honey like flavor in the mouth after which would be more appealing, this one just leaves a dry earth instead of wet earth after taste.
I’m one sleepy idiot…
I woke up and brewed a pot of this and began eating some really spicy food with red jalapenos. Now I’m trying to drink this shincha and I am not sure what I am tasting.
Guess I will have to try it again sometime.
Anyone else ever do this before?
Not with this specific tea, but with tea… All the time. I’ll ask myself, “why does this taste weird?” Oh yes, I have to blend my meals with my tea..
The floral notes in this tea are very balanced with the overall taste. This is a huge plus for someone who tends to be shy when it comes to TGY because they can be packed full of floral notes. Overall, I really enjoyed this tea; enough so that I am resteeping it as I give into my gaming addiction :/
This oolong changes quite a bit between the steeps which is really fun to taste. Enjoyable mild taste that opens up in the next steep. While the resteep value is high, there was a little hint of an odd flavor in this which I cannot identify but I did not care much for it… maybe a brussel srpout that was forced to retire later than it should have…
Right now I am drinking a lot of oolongs that I will review later… but I want to write something for my fellow Steepsters to read.
Just being 100% honest here
Within the past 24 hours I have been treated so well on Steepster that I am unsure how to channel all the warm feelings. What has happened is that a few different people have offered to send me teas on my wishlist. Understanding that they would have to take the time to look at my wishlist and be willing to offer those teas makes me so happy. I can’t wait to make more connection and have a job so I can pay it forward 10×. I’m already at work on this as I correspond with individuals in China, New Zealand, Japan, and Russia. To be honest, I love the internet. The internet provides the ability for families to Skype over long distances, see what friends are up to via Facebook, purchase goods directly from sellers, obtain education where books are scare, talk to those with similar interest like tea, and so much more!!!
The future always holds a multitude of possibilities to which I look forward to sharing with you all.
& then it just got better… someone on Etsy is going to ask a few local farmers in Florida where I can purchase Feijoa Blossoms. I would be the only person to have them in a tea blend. They are said to taste like warm melon. Who wouldn’t want to eat that kind of flower???
Thanks AllanK for including this in our swap. This tea is compacted so well! I went to bed drinking this and woke up this morning to steeping it :)
The liquid has yet to lose it’s color, aroma, or brisk taste. This is a very nice pu’er and I will probably end up steeping it 15+ times to be honest.
“WHAT THE HELL?”
That is what I said when I opened this tea… this was a free sample so I didn’t know what to expect. Imagine opening up a package of this without knowing: https://www.etsy.com/listing/183102436/kukicha-tea-organic-twig-tea?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=twig%20tea&ref=sr_gallery_2
Yeah… it is 100% twig.
Interestingly enough, this is quite decent.
