1113 Tasting Notes

Having no idea what this was I just steeped it and drank away. For whatever reason I thought all the Dammann Freres teas were flavored, but let me know that I was wrong. This dark oolong is decent, but I don’t get the fruity notes that their website says that it has in it. The roasted oolong flavor is nice, but not as smooth as I woiuld want it to be.

This is a splendid tea :)
The leaves are big, the smell is sweet, and the taste is complex in the good way.
Nice notes of sweetness, but the green oolong is still in there. I enjoyed resteeping this tea to watch the leaf just sit there and communicate “That’s right, I’m a boss” to me.
As for overall taste, I’m not too big on caramel with a lighter tea of any sort. For me, caramel compliments strong brisk flavors.

A big thanks to Marzipan for being awesome and organizing a group buy for Dammann Freres.

I decided to drink through few of these tonight and started with the worst smelling one so they would get better :)
Not sure what the heck is going on this mix… there is really dark pieces of oolong and then green oolong in there. The battle for what this is suppose to taste like clashes against my taste buds and I have no idea what I should be tasting :(

Matcha/Green TTB #9

Lupcia’s Honey & Pear is easily 20x better than this is. For whatever reason I was not feeling this…

Super excited about this tea! A ground oolong is a must try.
The taste is pure, the aroma weak, and ending remarks are dry…
Drinking this is nice, though it is very hard to get it to mix into the water, its just that this tea seems to be punching my throat violently as it goes down and my throat doesn’t like that. My mouth also has a dry sensation from this tea as well. In regards to taste, I really like it. Maybe it’s because they ground the oolong it becomes dry because of the concentration.

Thanks AllanK for including this in our swap.
I was just drinking a 2014 winter crop green oolong from Beautiful Taiwan Tea Company before this which is a nice comparison. This oolong is what I would consider to be brisk. The bitterness overtakes the sweetness, but it is a darker oolong which makes it acceptable. If it was a tieguanyin with these bitter notes I would rate it low, but it it is not. There is something about this tea that is enjoyable, but at the same time there is something about it that makes it a sipping tea versus a drinking tea.
I wish the honey came through more. This oolong should be brewed quickly, leaving it in for 3 minutes makes it a bit too strong for my liking. Two minute steeps seem to work for me. The is nice and dark after many brews and has a funky smell, but the taste stays strong.

Drinking with my brother part 1

I’m guessing that my brother chose this tea because of the name, but I was excited because I have been wanting to drink it. The smell is very odd and it matches its taste. I’m unsure how to describe this tea… the best I can do is saying that it taste like a cola that sat outside for about 45 minutes. While it will still be okay, it isn’t the best. That is how this tea is, good but lacks something.

gmathis

Thanks for the reminder…I have some cola tea that is great iced when the weather starts to boil! Now, where’d I stow it..?

I love guayusa, have you ever tried any others by Bluebird Tea Co?

Liquid Proust

Butiki made the best guayusa and my memory of them intimidates me to even try…
I have the Candy Floss and Cocoa #5

TeaNTees

Yes, Butiki certainly did create some amazing guayusa blends. …Alas :(

Drinking with my brother part 2

After drinking that confusing cup of weak cola tea. I pulled this tea out of my sample box. The smell of this is AMAZING. I was so excited once I saw strawberry in there as well, I didn’t know it would be mango strawberry. This one brews very clean and smells just as strong as before it is steeped. This is the second mango tea from David’s Tea that I have had and it has convinced me to purchase all their mango teas. The sweetness is on point with this one.

I could probably write a poem about this tea because of its look, taste, and name.
Very pleased to see purple liquid come out in my pot as I steeped this :)
PURPLE!!!
I don’t drink many white teas, but this was flavored very well and balanced. However the blend comes out in proportion is awesome.
This tea may be on my list to try cold steeped as well

Grrrr… I can’t even rate this one.
My best friend like earl grey so I went on a shopping spree and purchased around 14 earl grey teas to drink with her. Unfortunately, this tea was not one I could drink past sip two while she told me she liked it. I told her that she is crazy and went to go grab a tea called Candy Floss since we drink around 120 ounces per sitting together.

Tea drunks…..

I feel bad because I sent this one! I’m glad your friend liked it, but it does NOT compare to the original blend. :/
