1113 Tasting Notes
My mom actually asked to drink tea with me last night… this doesn’t happen.
She likes caramel, cherry, and vanilla. Therefore, I chose a vanilla tea because I haven’t had a good one yet and I owned a Butiki one :)
Here’s what I will say about this tea:
1 I wish I could try it fresh
2 I approve
3 My mom wants more… no one tell her, but that isn’t happening
I’m unsure why I chose this tea out of everything I have available to me, but I did.
Tonight I am flooded by emotions and I fear they will keep me up. This weekend was great as I was able a good friend stayed for a few days. It has been 5 years since I have seen him… it was a clear reminder of how often I have moved throughout my life and how unstable my friendships are. Every few years it seems as if I am somewhere new and start to lose communication with old friends. Anyways, tea:
Tealux/Tealyra has been hit or miss with me so far. Thankfully this tea is a hit :)
The smell does not lead on to what is about to be tasted. This brews one smooth cup that would be classified as medium on a scale of light to dark. What makes this tea above ‘good’ is the mouth feel and how it goes down. Unlike a teiguanyin (or most of them that is) this tea warms up my body and I feel it from the mouth and down. Sensations linger in my mouth from the tea and I don’t want to take another drink for a good minute to savor the feeling as it slowly fades.
I’ll be looking for more oolongs like this. The stems with green leaves are the most beautiful as they have two full leaves on them and the dark brown ones look like burnt cabbage…
Unknown oolong steeped three times and thrown out three times. Whatever it was, it was the worst oolong I have ever tasted.
The only leads are: Taiwn Gao Shan Cha
I am unsure if anyone might have given any of those to me.
I wasn’t part of a YS group buy… interestingly enough, I have yet to purchase anything from YS before.
Whoops I meant to say Yunomi group buy. I’ve had YS on the mind lately. Still counting the weeks until my package arrives.
No such thing as a bad experience with YUNOMI… come on now, don’t play
:)
Someone included this in a swap and I have idea of what it is. Also, if you’re referencing to the latest YUNOMI group buy that was what I organized when I was in Tokyo so I know what all those teas are :)
Now I’m confused… why are you counting down the weeks? My YUNOMI orders have taken 48 hours (no joke) and 4 days.
What a wonderful tea :)
I was glad to see some twisted up green oolong in this blend because I don’t see it very often. The sweetness doesn’t completely overtake the tea which is nice and it can brew a few times while changing the flavor and still being desirable. Smelling this tea is one great experience.
This is nice and refreshing. Not as floral as I thought it would be, but also not lacking too much in flavor. While it is a bit weaker than I would like, it is a nice cup for an outside sitting. There is a semi dryness to it that is a little disappointing though, but that happens a lot with TGY teas from my experience.
This blend really intrigued me because it says apple cider oolong…
Had to try it :)
The blended/flavoring of this is more complex than most oolong blends that I have tasted. It is as if it has been infused with cider itself. Personally, the aroma of this tea is off putting and I really dislike smelling it each time I go to drink from it; but as a drink, the taste is quite nice. Being as complex as it is on my taste buds, as in hard to decipher what all is going on, I find myself wanting to sip more of this unlike other blends that I don’t understand that tend to not invite me back to another sip.The leaf looks nice and the apple pieces are rather large compared to what I have seen. I am thankful that the amount of ginger isn’t to the point of drying my mouth out, though there is a semi dryness from it (I experience this with every ginger tea so far though).
Poor Mom!
