1113 Tasting Notes

Brewed 12oz of this and took it to the park for a walk.
This tea has a mouth feel and aroma that does not match with its taste. So odd to feel mint and smell mint but not taste it. The green tea is a small portion of the blend which is okay, but overall the taste just isn’t as appealing as I would want it to be since I desire a more distinct taste when something says absinthe.

Strong brew with flash steeps :)
I really like how smooth this tea is while having the notes of bourbon in it. I didn’t think that it would contain anything detectable. However, there is a smell and flavor that comes from how this tea was stored which is wonderful to experience as I drink multiple steeps.

So… I drank this last night and apparently it wasn’t note worthy because I remember nothing.

My mom has been asking me for tea each night now which has been interesting… tonight I brewed this up for her and she asked if it was suppose to taste like the package says… to that, I made a rude remark that I should apologize about. That remark was: “Mom, it’s 52teas”
I had to explain myself… not going to post that here though :P
This brews pretty dark for a green tea and it’s a little rough. I do like the little blueberry I found in there though!

This is rather nice sheng as it isn’t bitter at the first steep which I am so use to with shengs now. The aroma, look, and taste is all right there in regards to what I look for in my sheng now. I think it just misses that smooth finish when it comes to the mouth feel.

The 2011 is really good as well.

I think I fell into the trap of pu’erh… the older the better; the older the more $$$ it cost; the more $$$ it cost the lower amount I will have.

Buy early and build a pumidor! I had the 2011 aged a few years and it turned out well. The 2009’s Scott pressed are coming into their own as well. There are still bargains just have to know where to find them. If you get hung up finding one let me know as I bargain shop as well.

I’m just impatient… I have two contacts in China that have been making claims about their pu’erh being xx years old and all, but I told them I want samples first. I got the answer I wanted being a no. I figure if a pu’erh cake is authentically as old as someone tells me, they won’t let samples go out. The only issue wit this is that they respond about 11-12 days after I contact them. I’ll be getting my first cake from one of them in a few weeks. Their other teas have been fantastic. I also have a contact who has some aged oolong, but $90 an ounce is way out of my budget ____ and that is discounted… the tea from that farm is superb though :)

Drinking some Naturally Grown Karigane leaf stem from YUNOMI right now.
This is one strong green tean. Very easily identifiable as a Japanese green, bt much stronger than would be desired. Personally, I think the difference between this and others is that it is a stem tea. The color is beautiful and fully green. I just wish it wasn’t so rough on the mouth as I sip it

This is the best pu’erh I have ever tasted.
210f and 15s/20s steeps
Why is it the best? Well, I decided after paying such a high cost for the BANA teas that I purchased that I would be rude and give them unfair test such as leaving a steeping sit for 30 minutes so I could taste it when it reaches room temperature. This tea though… this tea… just, the steeps are dark and strong but I am finding something new that I’ve never had from a pu’erh: After each sip, my entire mouth has a sweetness to it as I lick around. The mouth feel is bold and warm, but the aftertaste just lingers with this sweetness that I absolutely love.
Highly recommended. It seems that 100g is $33 which is like $9 an ounce … such a great deal. I’ll be looking at buying one of these within a month so let me know if you’re interested in taking 20-30g off of me :)
p.s. I enjoyed this so much that I hit the 8th steep before an hour passed…

Sounds wonderful!

It’s absolutely amazing… I am honestly leaving brews aside for them to chill while I drink hot ones as well. This tea makes me smile :)
The sweet after taste is all I needed for it to be high on my list, but once you add the fact that I can steep this over 15 times (not sure how many total as I am still going) it just makes it stay on the top as far as pu’erh goes.

It’s always wonderful when someone swaps with you and you see something from your wishlist :)

I actually brewed this twice before I left for work. Drank around 16oz of it and then took about 12oz with me to work in my thermos. This is a solid green tea. Smooth and strong enough to have a distinct taste that confirms its quality.

I’ve had greens that were better and greens that were much worse, but what I like most about this is the ability to drink a lot in a sitting without any issues of mouth feel.

What an interesting mixture… unfortunately I’ve been drinking away at Crimson, W2T, and YS pu’erhs these last two weeks so my taste for pu’erh is refined in a different way.
The nutty flavor is done quite well.
The fruity notes are nowhere to be found (from my sample)
The pu’erh is ‘eh’ grade.
Overall this is a tea I resteeped three times to see what happens with the flavor to find that it isn’t something I would entertain a guest with; though, at the same time I would’t give someone pu’erh if they are not a casual tea drinker because it’s like stomped on hay from a farm when you first try it… well, it was for me
Please note that when I first drank pu’erh I steeped it for 5 minutes…

Bahaha! That would be so nasty!

This is one of those teas that I feel a little odd reviewing because my evaluation differs from others… but, we all have different tastebuds and I have no regrets because I’m as honest as I can be to myself.
This tea just has a funk taste to it. The leaf is quite dark and looks wonderful, but something about the smell and taste has something unappealing to it.
I used 5g and did a 30s steep and a 2 minute steep… both times was like bad techno is my mouth, it works as background noise/taste but I could easily switch to something better.
