1113 Tasting Notes
Golden tea seems to be my favorite type of black tea variant. This tea was nice with its cocoa notes and malty taste, but I have had some really good golden teas in the past from Chinese farm directly and WP so this just isn’t as good as it would have been two years ago when I had no reference point for golden teas.
It is quite possible that either I have too much free time on my hands or that I am beyond addition when it comes to tea.
Anyways, about to go catch up on Falling Skies with my dad and drink another three teas because I can down 60+ ounces between the next two hours and still not change my sleep schedule a bit.
Right now I’m sipping on a ‘secret’ tea :)
While I drink it down I can’t stop thinking about this quote from Proust… it just, it saddens me in a unique way: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152506640402361&set=a.10150584159532361.381084.714617360&type=1&theater
Burnt my thumb good with some water over 200f while ‘trying’ to brew this…
Ugh….
Made this one for my mom and I :)
Personally, I think pu’erh shouldn’t be mixed with stuff and what not so I had jaded thoughts going into this…
However, this is actually a great tasting tea and I have no issue drinking steep 4,5,6 as my mom likes her tea stronger.
Nice mint, pu’erh is the undertone which is interesting, and over a nice feel. There is just a minor dry throat that comes with this one.
To be honest, I was kind of upset that I pulled this tea out to drink (I have a box of 100+ samples to try so I grab whatever I get first).
Thankfully, this is actually pretty good. Not only is the tea a smooth ride down from my mouth through my throat and to whatever it ends up, it actually taste quite nice. Nice and mellow with a splendid aroma that is faint but pleasant.
I cut this one short at 10 steeps
This is one big ass piece of sheng for a pot. The compression of this must have been amazing because it would not open after 6 brews… I eventually was a jerk and stabbed it a bit to break it up.
Overall the leaf is beautiful, the aroma is almost unnoticeable, and the taste does not offer anything that would qualify as great in regards to taste of tea. It may be decent, but doesn’t stack up to it’s appearance.
So I just brewed this and looked into my pot about four times… this has a roasted taste that is 95% the exact same as a roasted green tea in Japan.
Such an odd experience I’m having as I drink through a few ounces of this. While that was happening I decided to try it again because there is just no way… same exact conclusion, same taste, and I am just baffled…
So confused right now…
As I went about packaging this up for a swap, I remembered that I haven’t even drank it… so I brewed it up :)
This. Tea. Is. Epic.
Not only is the milk oolong taste present on each taste, there is a fruity note that lingers as an after taste. I’m not sure how this was done but I really enjoy it. Such wonderful tea, smooth and buttery while having that natural cream within the oolong itself.
I finally got to this tea… I just have so much that it is hard to know what to drink next!
This tea brews quite easily; in the past I had to tinker with the 1991 aged oolong Butiki had because I messed it up.
There is little aroma to this tea which is interesting. The taste is pure and very smooth. While the flavor is quite enjoyable, there is a dryness that is left in the mouth after a sip is taken. That part of the tea is unfortunate because it is one smooth aged oolong that I will continue to enjoy as I have quite a bit left :)
Maybe I’ll get crazy and cold steep this (not really though)
This oolong had such a bizarre taste! I had to brew it a few times to figure it out, but I couldn’t. Wishing I could explain this tea, I am unable to as I haven’t had anything like it. Fantastic dark oolong, but for an oolong it does have this slight bitterness on the aftertaste within the mouth feel. Not sure is all Gaba oolongs are the same, but if they are then it is something to try for sure as it might be someones favorite.
