1113 Tasting Notes

WOW. Just WOW.
This tea is comparable to the two shengs I’ve tried from Global Tea Hut.
I think my order for Bana just got larger now that I tried this. Honestly, this is some beautiful leaf that brews easily with a STRONG aroma but a taste that isn’t overwhelming. Best of all, the astringency is on hold. This is the kind of tea that makes me feel like it was hand picked and gently care for over the years so others could sip away at it in future years.

TeaBrat

Bana has some really great stuff for sure. I’ve never understood why they’re not more popular on Steepster.

Liquid Proust

Not sure… but I will be buying some more samples from them because they are very high quality from what I have tasted. The 2005 ginseng is #1 all time ripe thus far for me.

Lion

I have a very mixed feeling of being glad they aren’t more popular on Steepster, so their teas that I like don’t frequently sell out, and wishing they were more popular, so they’d earn the patronage they deserve. :3

Liquid Proust

Just drank this again after 11 months, an 11 months of trying hundreds of pu’erhs, and I’m finding it to not be all that good. This is quite educational, to read notes from the past on Steepster.

andresito

what was not good about it? what are your thoughts on it now? I just came across it today…was considering it. Wish they had 25g samples.

Outdoors in the sun just enjoying a Wednesday afternoon after work and I decided to brew something floral which was this!
Sadly, it did not give me the TGY floral taste I was wanting. It wasn’t the outdoors that changed the taste either, it is simply this tea. I believe the sizing is nice, but the taste just isn’t there. This is kind of like Tony Stark when he’s drunk; he may still be Tony Stark but he won’t be getting the job done the same way, you know?

You know when you are drinking a great tea but then think, ‘if only this was as good as…’ but then you realize that you are still drinking something great?
That is how I felt about this one… thanks a lot Verdant teas… actually, we should blame me because I am the one that drank them in this order right?

I drank this one down before work last Tuesday and I still remember it quite well. I knew that it was not a morning black tea from the smell and taste, but I am not someone who follows the rules; put me under citizens arrest guys.

This tea is nice and bold and though I still am not a fan of Indian black teas, I found this to taste rather pleasant

I will have to admit that having Art of Tea’s purple 99% oolong has pretty much set the standard for what I look for in this type of oolong.
This doesn’t seem to be as potent and therefore is not as fun to steep or drink. The leaf is a bit smaller than I would want and doesn’t expand much, which is a look aspect but it does translate to the somewhat flavor flavor beyond the roasty’ness.

Whispering Pines Tea Company

This is the exact same tea as AoT’s :)

Liquid Proust

Then this must of been exposed to more ‘air’ or something… not playing around, I have a vivid memory of my experience with AoT’s and even if it is the same then they were treated differently.

Whispering Pines Tea Company

It’s definitely possible that storage played a role in it. Humidity+oolong=bleh. haha

Dammann Freres does great floral teas for sure.. but as for smoked, I don’t think they do it well at all.

This was kind of rough for me to get through which was surprising because the Lapsang Souchong I had in Japan made me smile with every sip (different company though)

I have so much of this too ____

My best friend picked this out of the 4 samples I got from YUNOMI for sencha… unfortunately this one tasted a bit funky. I know I brewed it correctly, and twice at that, however something was off with this tea and I am unable to place it because I describe it as a sour fruit which shouldn’t find its way in a sencha. I believe this is just not as vegetable as I was hoping for a sencha nor was it as light as I like mine.
Generally I like my sencha to be like fresh dew off of a tea plant… which is what gyokuro reminds me of :)

Drinking quite a bit of this today to see how I like it. I believe that wet earth is the best description that can be applied to this, but by saying ‘bold wet earth’ may actually do more justice.

This is a fine pu’erh that looks rather young still. While it may not be my favorite, yet still taste great, this may be one of those teas that mellows slightly over the years to provide a warm honey pu’erh brew. I will look into trying this a few years down the road :)

I give this tea a zero for a unique reason.

So, I took this and many other black tea blends to work because they are the easiest to brew with what I have available there. After about two ounces in, I began to feel nauseated and then after 15 minutes I got a stomach ache. I decided to call this tea to an end and pour it out.

Upon getting home I drank some more to see what would happen and immediately my turned inside out… I just had to try again for myself to see if it really was the tea. Now that I am home I am sipping away at an oolong.

CHAroma

Hmm, I wonder if you’re allergic to something in it? I’m sorry to hear it doesn’t agree with you.

I made this at work on break thinking I was about to have a matcha break… I have no idea what I ended up having.
Being in Japan earlier this year, I have a good understanding of what yuzu and matcha taste like separately. I don’t believe this tea provides either of those experiences.

YUNOMI is the best place to get sourced Japanese teas, but this just was not something I can say I would want to drink again.

Interestingly, in Japanese stores you can pick up yuzu sencha drink mix sticks that are better.
