1113 Tasting Notes
I didn’t even read the package and thought this was one of those black/white pu’erh cakes that people dislike… so I brewed this at 190 and it was mild and wonderful. I’m assuming from my own taste preferences that if I brewed this at 205 I would highly dislike it since Darjeeling and black teas in generally are not my thing.
However, this was really pleasant with the spice that came from the undertones.
I had the Laoshan green tea before so this excited me. The pieces look like little green snails in a way. I like this tea as it is light, but it doesn’t pack enough flavor to distinguish itself outside of a green tea. I’d rather drink the Laoshan green than this, but that is my preference.

Why is banana listed as the first flavor of this tea on here?
This tea is fun for this reason: Upon each time that the liquid I brewed out of this goes down, there is a line of silky sweetness that I not only feel but taste.
It’s kind of like Turbo just shot down my throat… wait, no it’s not because that would be slimy…
Anyways, this tea is great because it has the taste, the aroma, and the ‘feels’.
I thought that the banana description was weird too until I tried it. There was a banana-ISH sweetness to it for me, but it was more of a feeling than flavor. I still don’t get the “cocoa” notes that are occasionally on Bai Hong Pao oolongs entirely. They are KINDA like dark chocolate (I typically eat in the 70-90% range anyway), but not really that chocolaty. Sorry for the rant….anyways, that’s one of my favorite White Jasmine’s I’ve had!

Thinking on how to word this tasting note… basically, scratch that like this basically : this is exactly what it is… it’s silver needle. Not bad, not good, not average. It just is.

Time to be honest: The first time I purchased yellow tea was 100% because it is not common.
This tea has an aroma that fills up the air and it’s kind of that funky ‘left around in the house wet green tea’ smell. The best part of this tea is that mouth feel that lingers for about 7-8 seconds and then fades after the last sip taken. Teas that give me a feeling, whether it be mental or physical, always makes me happy. The taste is like 25% dragonwell, 40% unique, 15% wild earth, and 20% random perception.; if that makes sense…
I’ve had two yellow teas of the same shape/color and they tasted like green tea left in a sock of mine from 1999 only to be brought out and steeped. This tea is not like that which brings me a lot of relief.

This tea gave me the same issue that the majority of white teas give: This tea has a dry aftertaste and a dry mouth feel from the aftertaste.
The leaf is bright in this mix which is appealing, but the taste is just too dry for me to enjoy multiple cups of; this is not usual though as many white teas have had the same experience within my drinking experiences.
I do add quite a bit :p
I was on a mission to drink 500 teas in a year… which I already passed and it’s only August.
I don’t believe I’ve even had anything from Shang Tea before.

Tealyra, Tealux, TEA WHA???
These two companies be confusing me like Teabox and Golden Tips
Anyways: Ladies and Gentlemen, here is a fabulous pai mu tan!!!
While the color looks distant of being fresh, I assure you that the flavor with this on is there.
Hold on, why is this fabulous though… make it short for us please as we just worked all day.
Simply put: This tea gives you the integrity of that white tea taste but also includes a sweet finish; this is something I have not come across in a pai mu before and makes me quite happy. A white tea with a sweet finish that doesn’t have jasmine? This is a winner :)
Hi there! I’ve worked for Tealyra for about 4 years now. We were named Tealux (same company) but officially changed the name to Tealyra in the fall of 2014!
I have written about it on the site – https://www.tealyra.ca/about-us/
Sorry for any confusion!
This was quite nasty… I sent pieces off to a few people to verify that; though, as far as what I’ve heard about this kind of pu’erh it is expected to be nasty from others.

Today: In the trash :p
Sad sipaway… it seems that my actions have caused this tea to cease to exist in my cupboard :(
This was one wonderful rose tea and it was different than other rose flavors/blends I’ve ever had.
I drank this with smile on my face.
I think I’ve heard before that darjeelings, especially first flush, tend to be more delicate than normal black teas and you should use cooler water. I tend to stay around 185 or cooler and have had much better results.
First flush is also milder than second flush. Leans a bit toward green tea.
