5 Tasting Notes
This is a very pleasant black tea. No frills, really, just straight up chinese black tea. The only barrier for some folks might be that it’s only available from Harney in an 8oz. tin (no sample sizes). The price is reasonable, though. I recommend it.
Preparation
I was initially drawn to this tea because, being a big fan of Irish Breakfast tea, I was intrigued by the idea of a Scottish Breakfast Tea. I really enjoy this one and the bagged version has been in my breakfast rotation for the past few months. This tea is strong and malty but not quite as astringent as Irish Breakfast can be. I drink this straight and it really wakes me up! A couple of grocery stores relatively close to me have been stocking this lately, so it’s been easier to come by.
Preparation
This was the first Lapsang Souchong I ever tried and I still keep a box at work in case I’m ever in the mood. I personally find that it smells smokier than it tastes, which is ok because it tastes really smokey! I prefer this tea during the fall or winter. It seems to fit the mood of the cold weather months much better. My 17 year old cousin calls this “the campfire tea”.
