58 Tasting Notes
When you first open the jar, you are hit with a very intense, oceany smell. The color of the tea is very light and clear, but with a deep green tea smell. The flavor reminds me of seaweed and went very well with dark chocolate. This tea is very strong, so I wouldn’t drink a large amount at a time, but it is very good in small quantities like with deserts
Preparation
First off THANKS TO TEAVIVRE FOR THE WONDERFUL SAMPLE!!!
Dry smell: The first thing I noticed was the deep, earthy, chocolate aroma. It has a slight pungency but not in a bad way.
Wet leaf: When steeped the leaves get an earthy smell but also has tones of lilac coming through.
Flavor: The tea is very floral but still has a deep earthy flavor when left for a longer steeping. It has a slight tartness in the back of your throat when you swallow, but the aftertaste is a nice, light floral note.
I got 10 6 ounce steeping with 5 grams of this tea and probably could have gotten more. It is a nice summery/spring tea and I’ll definitely be buying some to have on hand. It isn’t going to be my every day tea but, on the right occasion, it is really nice.
Preparation
I love everything orange. I normally don’t love tart teas, but I found this one to be quite good. Dry, this tea smells like freshly juiced orange pulp. My mouth started watering right as I opened the bag. I don’t find the tea to look particularly appetizing dry because the chunks reminded me of a bread of some kind, but there were a few whole orange wedges. Yum. When steeped this tea loses a lot of the orange smell but still gives off a citrusy scent. I expected the first sip to be tart but you are first hit with a sweet orange cream flavor, that only turns sour when the tea reaches the back of your mouth. Wild orange blossom is a pleasant tea that isn’t too sweet, isn’t too sour, and possesses just the right amount of citrus twist.
Preparation
This tea smells exactly like it tastes, sour. If you don’t enjoy a tart tea then this isn’t for you. I almost always enjoy citrus drinks but even I need to be in a certain mood to enjoy this tea. With added sugar it becomes a nice warm the, with the right amount of zest, on a hot summer day.
Preparation
When you first open this tea the intense smell of cinnamon hits you like a wall. It smells like a fireball candy. Before brewing I was afraid that the cinnamon would be overwhelming, but when drinking it is the perfect amount of cinnamon. If you’re in the mood for a nice breakfast black, with a little added spice then this is the perfect tea for you
Wow, I commend your bravery at using such a long steep and high temp with a Sencha! I rarely go beyond 1min using 75C/167F, but I also tend to be pretty heavy handed with the dosing I use.
