2062 tasting notes

I had this tea bag in the morning – as it says: Good Morning.

It was simple herbal tea; with mint little domintating flavour. Soothing cuppa, without any greatness of taste.

Nothing to write really. It is just a tisane. No rating.

Third loose leaf tea I have received from my Swiss friend. Thank you for all three Fabiana!

I like the colour of the blend. I mean loose pieces of everything. In aroma it is raisins, but as well something bold. Somefruits. Maybe it is maracuja which is mentioned. Maybe oranges. Anyway it smells really great.

10 grams in strainer (I want it strong this time), keeping it all the time in. The water turned into deep red. In aroma it is really nice. Nothing acidic, but oranges and exotic fruits. Why not?

Finally, it is colder, so I can make first sips tasting notes. Sour. But pleasantly sour. Blood oranges, maracuja, as well quite sweet. Fruity mix, but not getting heartburn. Prepared this tea iced must be lovely. I have to try it.
Anyway, it is pleasant. Lots of fruits in, quite long mouth feel for fruit blend. I am not sury why, but it smelled (and tasted) a bit like sour cherries. But maybe my brain is just making shortcuts because of colour.

Overall, good tea for evening.

Flavors: Blood Orange, Cherry, Pleasantly Sour, Raisins

Woo,
another cake tea. And yeah. Great one.
My previous tasting note says almost everything.

You will get cloudy red-copper liquor which has aroma of cinnamon, vanilla and nutmeg. This time not very sweet from carrots in aroma. But rather from vanilla. And I forgot hazelnuts.

In taste it is what do you actually expect from the name. It tastes like carrot cake. Yep, quite sweet, probably from carrot flakes, maybe some sweetness from caramelised hazelnuts. But it is not overpowering the spicy aspect. The spicy aspect contains mostly from cinnamon and nutmeg accompanied with woody flavour of rooibos.

I want more than 20 grams.

It is delicious tea which does not need anything but drinking.

Song pairing (I think it is actually great idea, so I do it too):

Oh, already 8 am? I woke up hour and half earlier. Meh.
Slow start of the day. And simple tea. Just a tea bag of green tea. At least it is with lemon.

+- 90°C water (I know, I know), 3 and half minute steep. Cloudy, yellow-green liquor.

In aroma it is really lemony. Bit like lemon juice. And on taste? It is similar. And bit of bitter aftertaste. I oversteeped it? I used too hot water?

In conclusion – for the price fair tea. There is bit of grassy notes, but – not so much. Much more lemon tastes, lemon peel taste too. Maybe it is actually kind of nice surprise it was not so bad.

I love hearing everyone’s song pairings lately! Such diverse musical tastes – but a great way to experience more music.

Another review of this one? Okay I guess. 4 grams / 85 ml gaiwan.

I made really long first steep. 40 seconds. Why? I was cleaning the kitchen after I prepared this tea.

Wet leaf aroma is really nice, but I can not came up with it what it smells like. But it is pleasant.
When poured into my tea cup the aroma changes rapidly to cinnamon buns, roasted nuts, pecans.
In taste it is very mouth-watering, as well cinnamon, nuts, pear. Enjoyable combination!

2nd steep,
again 40 seconds. It became bit more sweet in aromas as well in taste. Sticky feeling on tongue. On all other fields super. I like it, because it is so full of flavour.

3rd steep
I did 50 seconds. It loses lots of distinctive notes and it is nice and mild now.

4th
One minute. Last one. I notice it is really weak in aroma. I did too long steeps probably. I killed it. Please forgive me. Yeah. It is watery and nothing distinctive. It has got generic roasted taste and aroma. And woody. Sad :/

cinnamon buns! yum yum!

I need to do a What-Cha order. I have never ordered from them and they are so popular on here!

Martin Bednář

ashmanra: you should. They have nice selection and in extra, nice prices!

Kittenna

Mmmm, sounds really delicious! I, too, have never ordered from What-Cha. One day.

Woohoo, another oldie. It was a single tea bag in cupboard. Who knows how old? How expesive it was? I have no idea even where I get it, if I bought it myself, or it was from some tea bag exchange.

Anyway to the tea. After about 4 minutes of steep I made first notes about aromas. I notice vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg. Not much of tea base. Colour is brown, bronze – clear.

In taste it is bit weak, but still very good. Lots of spices, mostly … I do not know honestly. Maybe cloves, or it is star anise. Certainly orange peel in is making it bit smoother. A cinnamon is in for sure too. But I do not notice it much, maybe because there is nothing in contrast (as for example in Apple & Cinnamon). As it cools down, notice ginger and another more spicy spices. Maybe bit caramel too? But tea base is weak.

In conclusion, I think it is quite nice chai. Even when old. Bit sweet, but mostly spicy (expected). I expected more from tea base, more malty. That is bit sad in this tea.

Flavors: Cinnamon, Cloves, Ginger, Nutmeg, Spicy, Vanilla

Haha, I have so many of these random things in my cupboard… Glad this one worked out reasonably well!

Martin Bednář

Kittenna – I think those are alright, because they are in foil wrappings. But when they are just in paper bag… I am not sure if I dare try them :D

I am feeling well, but I just wanted to drink something different. By some accident I got this tea bag full, so I have drink it myself. And nobody likes chamomille in my family. So it is up to me again. I took sachet out and to my surprise I see quite nice number of yellow buds and not much of herbal dust. The string is bit short in my opinion, but it will be okay. I don’t know how old it is.

They suggest 6 minutes steep, so I did. Quite long in my opinion but they know best.
Liquor is clear and golden, no dust. It smells of course after chamomille. But it smells after a pineapple too! As haptiK found out, even they are noticing it.

In taste it is very nice and smooth. The herbal taste is not really strong and that is something I like. Again the pineapple is there. It is quite sweet as a honey a bit as well. Interesting I notice three different tastes in one plain herbal tea. Not even a blend.

Overall, I won´t rate again, as it is just plain chamomille and I don´t like it usually. But this is somehow different and really lovely herbal tea. But I can clearly recommend this tea and that is huge achievement when I recommend pure chamomille!

Flavors: Herbs, Honey, Pineapple

I like chamomile all right but I don’t love it. However, I have discovered that I DO love it really, really cold in hot weather! I put it in a glass bottle in the refrigerator and it is SO refreshing. I hope it also helps my poor tummy.

Martin, I have a package for you but I haven’t been able to access my messages for a few weeks. Can you either send me a message which I will see in my personal email but be unable to respond, or email me your address to the following burn account? “please fix steepster at gmail dot com” with no spaces.

Tight compression of tea. That is a definition of this one.
I managed to get 5 grams for my gaiwan, made quite a long rinse (30+ seconds).

Now, first steep, about 20 seconds I think. Stonefruits, honey… tea on me. I spilled (cold already) on me.

Second one is longer by 10 seconds.
Taste gone stronger, bit more astringency. Bamboo is the strongest taste I think.

Third steep, again 30 seconds.
Tea broke completely, so finally I am getting sweet notes. But in background there are still some bitter notes.

4th
Oh well, how long? 30+ seconds, maybe close to 1 minute! I forgot!
But tea is still good. It does not turned awfully bitter, rather the stone fruit flavours turned out stronger.

And few more steeps, I stopped making any more notes. I am too lazy now. It is almost 10pm.

I knew the first song, but the second was new to me. Great song, enjoyed the video, too! Nice choice on the chocolate.

Another tea from my Swiss friend. She knows I am easily stressed out (and now I am). Clear head. What a simple name. I wonder how it turns out.

Opaque golden (not really, yellow is more correct) colour. Maybe it will clear off. I notice cinnamon, pepper in. As well some weird mix of herbs. Ginger is in as well.

Licorice. Yep, by first sip it is in. It is that weird sweetness there. It stings a bit as well; I blame ginger and pepper maybe. By taste it won’t be my favourite tea. That is clear even after first sip. But maybe it will calm my mind? Who knows?

No rating.

I did second try (not worth a tasting note, as I was thinking about something else) today. Maybe the ratios were different and it was better. Not so sweet, rather spicy, and I think it is actually working (maybe just placebo effect).

ashmanra

That’s good!

I found a single tea bag in my stash. Then I found whole box in cupboard. I completely forgot about this one. But it is still before BEST BEFORE date, so – I don’t mind.

Too bad, on box, on bag and not even on website is information what tea was used (yes, I mean regions). Just everything is unique, premium, ritual, whatever. On website I found out that Teekanne is responsible for content. And if you want to write the company, there is one, not very promising e-mail address. Or you can try to write them an snail mail – then it is a PO Box. Hmm.

I did just 2 and half minute steep (they suggest 3-5). I was afraid it will be too bitter, so I rather short the vrewing time and usually it is alright. The hue of colour is alright, dark copper, quite clear (I have seen cleaner from tea bags). Little oil flecks.

In aroma there is no malt, nothing what says I am strong tea. Nothing astingent, bitter, whatever. It smells after toffee, caramel cookies, maybe little chocolately.

In taste is is quite weak (I have to re-try with longer steeping time), and similar. Sweet, caramel notes with chocolate notes. I expected something more bitter from English Breakfast blend. It is quite easydrinking, but not really something I would drink on daily basis.

Flavors: Caramel, Chocolate

Preparation
Boiling 2 min, 30 sec 14 OZ / 400 ML
