1908 Tasting Notes
I was impressed to see real pear bits in the ingredient list. Most fruit teas just have some mysterious ‘flavouring’ and leave it at that. The tea is nice and smooth and I love the hint of pear which is just strong enough to make itself known without overwhelming the tea.
I like this, it has a natural, almost fruity sweetness to it while still having a pleasent, mildly herbal taste and fragrance. BTW Honeybush isn’t rooibos despite a slight similarity in taste (though I find honeybush much smoother and less tart), they’re two completely unrelated species of plants.
The chicory root and the carob gave this a pleasent, almost coffee-ish scent when it was brewing. I couldn’t stop sniffing it!
It’s not the most flavourful chai, but it’s still good for something that’s a generic grocery store brand. You can definitely taste the cinnamon in it, although the chocolate is just the barest hint. I’ll try the next cup with milk like a real chai and see if that changes anything.
