I had this again last night, and it was just as fantastic as the time before. This is the Assam I hold the others up to. Just lovely.

Delicious! The vanilla is very subtle but true – not that fakey cakey vanilla but a vanilla bean taste. Excellent by itself, but holds up to being paired with dessert. I had it last night with some toasted coconut shortbread that I baked, and it was a marriage made in heaven!

This used to be my favorite assam, but now that I’ve done some tasting around…I taste some bitterness, astringency and flatness that I didn’t notice before. SOMEbody is getting spoiled ;) I’m going to try to take maybe 30 seconds off the brewing time to see if it livens it up a bit.

I start craving this when I haven’t had it in a few days!! Had it again last night and it did not disappoint. My husband commented “I think this is my favorite of all our teas!”

Wow! This one took me by surprise! A wonderful tea with a hint of…grapefruit really isn’t it – the closest I can come to is that it tastes like a faint and pleasing flavor similar to St. Germain liqueur (which is one of my favorite spirits!). It’s in the background – this one is all about the tea – but a really nice grace note.

A WONDERFUL assam! It’s just about perfect. Not overpowering, but not at all meek. Not a spot of bitterness. A real delight to drink. I had it with a cranberry upside down cake that I made, and it had enough body to compliment the assertive and tangy cranberries. Absolutely love it.

Thanks for posting! I was wondering what the balance would be with this one.

Another nice mild tea from Harney & Sons – light and a bit lemony. I think I will take 30 seconds/a minute off brewing time next pot because it was just a tad bitter.

I LOVE this tea. Tart and fruity with a…spice? something warm! undertone. Perfect for the season.

AMAZING tea! I crave it, and run to the shop whenever I am finished a bag. The taste is very distinctive and I’ve never had anything quite like it!

I love to cook, bake, read, paint, knit, do needlework, and garden. I need my coffee, but I LOVE my tea. I work at an Art School, and attend a large public university doing post-bac work (my BA is in English). I’m interested in the liminal spaces between art and craft, the academic and the practical, the individual and community, and the old and the new. I’m currently exploring these ideas through the disciplines of education, literature, history, and psychology.

I enjoy writing tasting notes, but have decided not to numerically rate teas as of 9/14/10. For an explanation, see my looooong tasting note about Mountain Malt from the Simple Leaf.

My favorites:
Chinese black teas
A good “milk and sugar” English style black
Earl Grey (classic, and in all variations!)
Vanilla teas (classic, and in all variations!)
Jasmine, Rose, Violet and other froofy, flowery teas!
An Occasional Oolong
Flavored Rooibos
Herbal Tisanes
