122 Tasting Notes
Well, hello there Steepster. It’s been awhile. You look different! I got this tea as a sample from Butiki and an enjoying it. The tea is flavorful and slightly astringent. Today we celebrated Valentine’s Day in my special education class and I got lots of love… but feel like I’ve been put through a wringer. I am so happy to relax with a cup of tea!
Hello, tea world. I disappeared for awhile! It’s been a time of many changes and I look forward to being back on Steepster. I just made a cup of my favorite, Laoshan Black, and promptly forgot about it. Even bitter and oversteeped I still love it. There’s a trace of the chocolate brownie flavor I love and a kick of coffee-like bitterness. I bet this gives me a caffeine boost!
Hi Steepster, I missed you. sip
After all the hype surrounding this tea I was excited to try it. I kept checking Butiki Teas, waiting for it to be back in stock. My wish is finally granted!
I got the package today and this was the first thing I tried. I accidentally steeped it for too long — at least twice as long as I was supposed to. I was kicking myself, thinking I had wasted my leaves and was about to have a bitter cup. This was not the case! My tea was sweet, strong, and almost spicy. The closest thing I can liken this to is cinnamon raisin bread. YUM! This was worth the wait.
This tea is like a favorite sweater, or a particularly comfortable blanket, or snuggling down into your bed after a long day. It just breathes comfort and goodness.
It’s been my go-to during tough times. It makes me smile, which puts me back into an upbeat and cheerful place. Can a tea be magic? If so, this one is.
My only complaints are that I burn through it so quickly and how the taste changes on resteeping. The first cup is heaven, then it develops a coffee-like flavor. If you are trying to make the switch from coffee to tea, then perhaps add this one to your shopping list.
Hellooooo Steepster! I’ve been absent for a long while due to a nasty illness and needing to nurse a family member back to health after major surgery. I just haven’t had the energy to log teas until now, but I’ve been thinking about the community and missing my fellow Steepsterites!
This tea seems like a good way to ease myself back into reviewing teas. My curiosity was piqued by this blend so I ordered a small sample size with my last Verdant shipment. The blend sounds like it wouldn’t work, but this is Verdant we’re talking about so I have lots of faith. The scent and flavor I’m getting most of is the summery Bai Mu Dan, which always pleasantly reminds me of hay. As I sip I’m getting undertones of pu’erh and oolong. Such an interesting blend! It is making me feel more awake, too. I’m sure more refined palettes would pick up on other flavors, but all my brain is giving me is, “Mmm, yum. More, please!”
Verdant, I think you’ve done it again! I might have to add this to my next order. Thank you!
Edited to add: This resteeps like a dream. Great stuff!
Glad you’re back!
I still haven’t ordered any of this. I loved last year’s version so much, & I’m sure this one is quite different. I need to get a sample for myself soon.
