9 Tasting Notes
This is a great rooibos blend that I would recommend to anyone looking for a distinct, rooibos-only blend of tea. I have been lucky enough to have authentic rooibos tea from Holland and this tastes EXACTLY like the tea I had there. The taste of this is very smooth and enjoyable. I prefer black and mate teas but when I want something different, I reach for this blend.
Preparation
This blend of David Rio’s chai is without sugar and caffeine and I can taste a big difference between this Flamingo Vanilla version and his original Tiger Spice Chai blend. A BIG difference. I don’t like this one near as much as the other (which earns a sold 100 from me, along with only one other tea). We bought this because my mother wanted to try my tiger chai but wanted one without the caffeine. Unfortunately for us, we cannot find the version of David Rio’s which is only caffeine free (which is called Giraffe Decaf Chai, in case you are interested), so we bought this one instead. It was a big disappointment for me because I have a long history with the Tiger Spice blend (it was the original chai tea blend from Borders back before they brought in Starbucks!)
I won’t be buying this one again, and neither will my mother, but I would try the Giraffe one.
Love, love, love, love, love this ‘tea’. I used to work at Borders and this is THE EXACT blend of the original borders chai ‘tea’. I use tea in quotes because I never make this with water (and neither did Borders). I make this tea just like I do with hot chocolate — heat up a mug of milk and add in this chai blend, stir and enjoy the guilty pleasure of it. I don’t drink it a lot because even using 2% milk, this is too fattening for me. The blend of this chai is utterly perfect: It is not too sweet and each of the amounts of the various spices (cinnamon, clove, cardamom and ginger) are perfectly in tune with each other. I will constantly have some of this in my cupboard. Love!
I thoroughly enjoy this tea. It does not have as much chocolate flavor as the Double Dark Chocolate Mate by Republic of Tea, and instead has a much more intense coffee base note. It is quite bitter (but I find I love bitter teas) and not very smooth. I do enjoy this tea enough that I have bought three boxes now, which says a lot due to my serial new-taste-trying addiction. When I brew this tea, I leave the bag in the cup the whole time while I drink it. Teas that I can do this with are my favorite. I recommend this tea if you like coffee and chocolate packed together into a strong cup.
Preparation
This tea is very smooth. Probably the smoothest tea I’ve tried so far. It has a very mild chocolate flavor mixed with a very mild coffee flavor, blended together into perfect seamlessness. I drink this tea when I want something very smooth and with only a hint of chocolate. I don’t drink it too often because I prefer more dramatic teas, and especially chocolate-heavy teas. I don’t know if I’ll buy it again.
This is my favorite chocolate tea. It is simply ~ amazing ~. I’d never tried a mate before but I have been wanting to find a chocolate tea to help me keep from drinking hot chocolate and this is definitely ~ the one ~. My favorite teas are the kinds that I can keep the bag in the cup the whole time while I drink it and I can definitely do this with this one. It does not become too strong for me. The taste and smell of the chocolate flavor in this tea is very intense, and there’s not an overpowering taste of coffee like I have experienced with some other ‘chocolate teas’. I will keep buying this blend again and again.

You can edit from your own personal tealog (taking out the – symbol). I like to use the squiggly symbol ~ and that shrinks the text here (ha). see?
I don’t love this tea and I don’t hate it. Personally, I enjoy strong teas and I especially love rooibos blends. I’ve been trying to find a chocolate tea lately so I thought I’d try this. Oddly, I didn’t taste any chocolate at all. If you’ve had the packaged alcoholic drink called ‘RedRum’, then you know what the beginning note of this tea is. It’s kind of off putting, really. I won’t buy again but I’ll finish what I’ve got.
Preparation
This is the best tea I have ever had in my life. Unfortunately, I can only buy it when in Holland. It is a rooibos blend of red fruit. The front of the box has an image of a strawberry and cherries on it. It is not loose leaf and the tea appears to be ground – this releases flavor immediately and I love to leave the tea bag in my cup for the entire time I drink it. It is very robust and slightly bitter. I enjoy the tea with some sugar and I could drink cup after cup if I had an endless supply.
