100 Tasting Notes
How i got it: Tried it in “La Teteria” Tea Room (later, I got some in a trade with my sister)
Experience: This tea stands to its fame. Intense aroma of solid dark chocolate, while the flavor is very similar to a cocoa liquor. The taste of the base tea is present too, but isn’t very evident. A little bit bitter and astringent in the end, but nothing unpleasant at all. Really good.
Would i buy it?: Sure thing. It has earned a place in my cupboard.
How i got it: Bought it
Experience: This tea is curious. In itself, it doesn’t have a clear flavor, because of the strength of the ginger and cinnamon added, both of which overlap tea’s taste. Nonetheless, the spiced touch is enough to enjoy the blend. Good overall.
Would i buy it again?: I’d like to try other Chai’s, but for now, i would say yes
How i got it: My workplace’s current tea of choice
Experience: This is one tea i drink when i want something a bit stronger than the usual black. Clear, intense, and the typical malty taste of Ceylon teas. Slightly bitter in the end (maybe due to oversteeping, though i only brew it for a bit more than 2 min.). Quite aromatic. Very good.
Would i buy it?: I’d say yes. Actually, i’m thinking about changing the default Lipton Yellow Label for this one, although i’m not sure if i will like strong tea every night
How i got it: Bought it
Experience: At first, i was a little disappointed, because i didn’t expect the smokey touch in this tea (i even questioned if that was supposed to happen in a Yunnan tea). However, after drinking it more consciously, i’ve come to appreciate it. It has a medium intensity but very clear flavor, with a balanced mix of malty and peppery notes (I sense a bit of dried fruits too), and a little spiciness at the end. Its aroma has a smoked touch that, though i’m still getting used to it, goes fine with the tea. Very good.
Would i buy it again?: After some thought, i’d say it’s a real possibility.
How i got it: Free sample from a shop i visited
Experience: It has a clear and light taste. I would say it’s a bit sweeter and less aromatic than my current green (though more floral). It’s quite good.
Would i buy it?: I don’t know… i think my loose leaf still does a bit better, hehe.
How i got it: Bought it
Experience: My first loose leaf black tea (though it really is a mix of black and green), and one of my options for evenings. By far the most aromatic i own, its distinctive jasmine touch dominates both smell and flavor. Light, clear and almost sweet taste. Quite good.
Would i buy it again?: Maybe yes… i guess i would miss it if i don’t have it as an alternative to my green tea some evenings hehe
How i got it: Bought it
Experience: This is a interesting tea. While it has a smooth and light flavor, it’s not clear and evident; i would say it goes more on the nutty and malty side, with a hint of acidic. At the other hand, in addition to the tea’s own aroma, i can sense a very slight touch of smokiness. The resulting bouquet is notable and adds a special touch to the blend. Really good.
Would i buy it again?: Sure, it’s a good addition to the mix
How i got it: Bought it
Experience: My everyday black tea, but i have to say, it’s a bit tricky. Under the right conditions, it can turn out pretty good, with a very balanced, well defined and rich flavor. On the other hand, it has the potential to be disappointing, leaving you with kind of a watery taste. In the end, i would stick with the ‘good’ rating.
Would i buy it again?: It has stayed as my evening tea for long, so the answer will be’ yes’ until i find something better for the same price.
How i got it: Bought it
Experience: The base mix of Ceylon, Assam and Kenyan teas results in a strong, rich, complex taste that i find a bit difficult to describe. Its flavor is very lasting, and goes more on the malty side, but with the characteristic soft bitter notes of the “breakfast” blends. What i’m most grateful for is that the touch of bergamot is not too intense, but just the right amount to complement the tea. This blend surely stands out compared to the regular Earl Grey. Really good.
Would i buy it again? : You can bet. This one is a must-have for me.
I’m really impressed by the rating you gave it. It seems you really liked it. I’m glad :D
