4/5 ESP Emporium Teas

Oh, the pain! The pain! Day 1 of P90X was bad. Day 2 was worse. I haven’t even done Day 3’s workout yet, and I honestly don’t see how I’m going to. My whole body hurts. Plyometrics is a b****. Who came up with twelve different versions of jump squats for an hour and decided it was a good idea? Ugh, someone put me out of my misery! It’s time to have a nice cup of tea and try to relax. Operative word being try.

The dry leaves smell exactly like strawberry fruit roll-ups. The leaves are slightly flattened, long, and vibrantly green with lots of large dried fruit pieces and only a couple stems. The suggested steeping parameters are quite broad, so this might take some experimenting to make perfectly. I went with a quick 2 minute steep at 180 degrees.

The flavor is light and fruity. It reminds me of drinking the juice out of a fruit cup. Sweet and sugary, but not in an overpowering way. It’s a natural fruit sweetness. The base is somewhat buttery with a touch of floral, reminiscent of a green oolong. It’s not grassy though. The aftertaste is only slightly vegetal, which tells me this is definitely a Chinese sencha.

I’m going to try a second steep for 3.5 minutes at 185 degrees. The berry notes are quieter in the second infusion, but the green base is still going strong. The fruit taste comes out more as the cup cools. It’s not distinctly any one fruit, rather it’s just generically fruity. A slight astringency is becoming apparent at the end of the sip.

This is good! I love the buttery oolong-like qualities. I think I’ll really be able to enjoy this. :)

Maybe you should take a day off P90X. It’s not good to keep going when your muscles are so sore. They need a day to repair themselves!

I was a track coach after I finished as an athlete and taught weight training…so…I agree that it’s better to go all out once or twice a week …take one or two days off and do a percentage of your max the other days to allow recovery. I’ve seen too many people burn out! Eat right too!

We don’t work out the same muscle groups every day, so today will be an arm workout. I don’t think I’ve gotten to the point where I’m overtaxing myself yet. It’s not real pain, it’s just soreness. I’m stretching and icing my legs, and my fiance is helping me eat right. He makes sure I get enough protein and water and all that. No pain, no gain!! Maybe I’ll share my before and after photos with you guys in 87 days. :)

I’ve seen others get incredible results with it. You’re mighty brave! I tried the 30 Day Shred a couple times with some pretty good results (lost about seven inches total off my waist, hips, thighs, etc) but I found I had to take a couple days off in between since it’s the same workout all over and over again. You definitely work the same muscles every time. Whoever created P90X was smart for switching up the exercises like that. Looking forward to hearing about your results!

Bonnie

Sounds good then! Important to have variety and especially to warm up which most people skip or fail to do long enough. I was training. most days 4hours for shot putt …it was an amazing time in San Jose with World Champions all working out together! Great memories!

Bonnie

Can’t wait to see your pictures!!!! All the best to you!!!!

Ew! I abhor squats! You are one tough chick:-)

Kittenna

I can deal with squats – I loathe lunges! Except some of the dynamic ones. But then I always land wrong…

Daisy Chubb

Good luck to you! It’s nice to have partner to keep you motivated – I’ve tried on my own and it’s hard not to quit – but with 2 people supporting eachother I know you can do it! :)

jump squats are the devil!

Thanks everyone! :) I’m feeling much better today. Of course as soon as I’m feeling recovered, guess what muscle group we’re working out today? Legs. :P

@Incendiare, wowza!! That’s fantastic!! Congratulations! I’m really happy for you that all your hard work paid off. :D

@Bonnie, wow that sounds awesome! You’re an amazing lady! ;)

Haha thanks! But word of warning. I’ve been working so hard this year again and nothing has been happening. Still have more pounds and inches to lose and nothing has been happening despite being so strict. I heard the same thing happens with P90X, especially in the beginning. Some people don’t see results for two months, so don’t let it discourage you!

Entering the sweet blissful world of tea aromas!

Having discovered this website at the end of July 2011, I’m so excited to share my tea adventures with all of you! I grew up with my grandmother serving Twining’s English Breakfast with cream and sugar.

But on a trip to Seattle in 2010, I stumbled into a Chinese teashop and tried my first oolong tea. I was forever changed! I embarked on a startling new love for green and white teas.

With a world of teas to discover, I was inspired to keep a tea journal to record my thoughts and new favorites. Let’s get brewing!

My ratings are completely subjective and 100% my opinion. All ratings are given in relation to each other (ie. teas are rated in the order of my enjoyment of them). Therefore, my ratings will constantly change as I try more teas.

I love swapping!!! If you see something in my cupboard you’d like to try, just send me a message. If you’d like to trade, anything on my shopping list will do or feel free to send something else entirely. I’m willing to try almost anything (although I’m not really a fan of honeybush, red rooibos, pu’erh, Lapsang Souchong, & banana-flavored teas).
