9 Tasting Notes

Had my normal cup of Earl Grey before leaving the house this morning.
But as it’s so rainy and dreary, I decided I needed another cuppa something warm when I got to the office. Something with a bit of pep, since it’s Monday and all…
My boyfriend bought this for me in loose leaf awhile ago, and I’m not sure why it didn’t make it’s way into my “daily use” teas.
The flavor is bold, the caffeine enough to give me a good kick in the morning.
It’s got the faintest hint of astringency to me, that adds to the enjoyment rather than taking away.
I’ll be keeping this on hand at the office, for sure.
Just ordered their Irish Breakfast, so I’ll be looking forward to that.

drank Kenyan Earl Grey by JusTea
9 tasting notes

Yesterday morning I woke up early.
It was chilly in the house and I knew I needed a good strong, hot cuppa.
Since I was sleeping over at my boyfriend’s house, I didn’t have my full cupboard.
Lucky for me, I did bring Justea’s Earl Grey.
It had been quite awhile since I’d had a cup, but when I popped the lid off the tin….
Ahhhhh, heaven in a sniff.
I enjoyed my morning brew so much, I ended up having 3 more cups through the day.
It’s a lovely, well-balanced Earl Grey.
Not too bitter or astringent, and just enough bergamot to be tasted but not overwhelming.
I remember why this is my favorite.

Flavors: Bergamot, Tea

drank Black Assam by Mana Organics

Picked this one out for my morning tea today.
Loved that it was nice and light, no bitterness or astringency.
Had a faintly honey-like taste to it.
Stood up well on it’s own, I think sweetener or milk would overwhelm it.

It’s a nice strong black tea.
I’ve been sitting on this one for a little while and I’m not sure why.
It’s a little on the astringent side but not disgustingly so.
More in a “strong” tea way.
Drank it plain, no sugar or cream, and kept brew time to the minimum recommended (3 minutes)

Flavors: Astringent

Boiling 3 min, 0 sec 1 tsp 10 OZ / 295 ML

I actually got this tea as a sample in my December Sips By box.
I was a bit hesistant to try it as I am not an amaretto fan and I don’t care for almond scented/flavored anything (though I LOVE almonds themselves)
The smell is quite strong, but I forged ahead.
And I am SO glad I did.
I drank the first quarter mug or so with no sugar and no milk.
It was good, just the right hint of sweetness and I thought the cinnamon tasted lovely. Not overpowering.
Then I added about a quarter cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk (I use Orgain, since it’s slightly creamier than most other almond milks) and it just bumped it up to a whole other level.
The creaminess from the almond milk with the slight sweet cinnamon-y-ness of the tea was just perfection.

drank Original Chai by Chico Chai
9 tasting notes

I’ve been trying different chai blends by various brands for a number of years.
And then I discovered Chico Chai.
A bit on the pricey side for my budget, but I had a discount code from the Sips By site so I justified the expense.
Worth. Every. Penny.
Easily the best chai latte I’ve ever made or tasted.
The perfect amount of spice that just warms your soul.
8oz of brewed chai, 4oz of hot milk (I use almond milk, by Orgain), and the tiniest splash of SF vanilla syrup…
It’ll cure what ails ya.
I always make sure my cupboard is well stocked with this chai.

Has a very creamy, inviting smell to it.
If I could walk around smelling it all day, I’d be in absolute heaven.
Flavor wise, it’s very robust. I think I will step it a flat 3 minutes, instead of almost 4.
Very happy with this tea, all said and done.
A happy addition to my already overflowing cabinet.
