I fell in love with tea some years ago. I have never liked coffee much, and when I really started to learn about tea, I was just enchanted.
I love to try different teas and to find new expereriences. My current favourite is oolong tea from Taiwan, but other staple items in my cupboard include darjeeling, chai, some fine green tea and of course white tea for those delicate moments.
I was thinking how to grade teas here in my tealog, and for now I decided to rate every cup in a separate log (so that e.g. 1st & 2nd steeps probably are found as separate notes). The scale I composed for myself for giving the smiley/number grade, is about the following:
0-20 No no! Why on earth do I have this tea? And what made me drink it? This is bad. As bad as bad goes.
21-40 Better than worst. But still not very close to good. I might just finish the whole cup of this, but will not drink it again, if avoidable.
41-60 Your basically ok tea. Not a very special experience though.
61-80 Very nice and drinkable tea. Enjoyable.
81-100 One of the best teas I’ve tasted, would definitely like to have more!
