114 Tasting Notes
1/23/2015 The last 3g in my tiny water chestnut “yixing”. A year later, this is still one of the best teas I have ever had the pleasure to drink. Peaches and marble and a delicate toastiness. I drink the last of it today with joy and a little sadness.
Preparation
11/13/2014 tea for a sick AnnaEA 6g/100ml gaiwan/ varying temps. Last of my sample.
I spent the afternoon with this and I never really got a whole lot of specific flavors or tastes from it. BUT, I just wanted to keep drinking it. Later on I brewed a puerh I know I’ve always liked in the past and it didn’t really taste good anymore – it was full of strange unpleasant notes I’d never tasted in it before. I’m not sure about if this is a good tea and if I like this or not but it was definitely interesting.
9/22/14 builders tea with breakfast 12oz/212F/whole packet/five minutes or so?
Nice tea, excellent with milk and sugar. Exactly the pick me up I wanted on this cold rainy Ohio morning. Pleasantly smoky and rich.
A lot of the steepster teas are strikingly similiar to teas I get from Upton, and this one is no exception. I wonder if Upton wholesales.
Preparation
10/20/14 morning gong fu 5.5g/100ml gaiwan/212F
The more I drink this tea, the less I enjoy it. The wet leaf smells wonderful, so I think I just need to figure out the right brewing. Gong fu this morning and yesterday didn’t show it well, so I think I’ll try western.
9/19/14 sunday yixing. 8g tea/8oz water per steep/short steeps
Earthy dry mineral goodness. Surprisingly light, possibly because my teapot is very young. A taste like pine forest after rain.
Preparation
decrease water volume. i do 6-8g for 100 ml for shou. especially its aged, so not that strong. Just my 2c ;)
I’ll try that. I think I want to get a smaller pot for puer – the 8oz is nice for a get together, but too much for me alone.
if you are going to get one, i recommend not to exceed 130ml. 100ml i find is ideal for 1 person. Btw, good to see you ;)
Thanks! It’s nice to be back online. A smaller pour has really brought out the richness in this tea, and some nice berry notes.
