After spending an entire day baking in the sun at an event I most definitely did not want to be at (and getting sunburned to boot), I was in desperate need of something cold, sweet, and refreshing. I’m sure there are lots of teas that fit that bill, but for me my go-to “oh dear lord I NEED some iced tea” tea is Moroccan Mint. And since there are about a hundred different variations of it everyone is bound to have a favorite: this one is mine.

This was actually one of my very-first loose leaf teas years ago. I remember my surprise when the gunpowder unfurled and busted open my tea ball! It was love at first sip, and this has been a staple in my cupboard ever since, even when I had to leave most of my teas behind for dorm life. Of course, I don’t use tea balls or spoons now for tea like this so I get to watch it bloom beautifully. This is such a pretty tea—I really love watching tea brew (kind of weird?) and this one is some great eye-candy.

The peppermint in this is very strong: many other Moroccan Mint blends are either not quite minty enough/are too minty for me or they use spearmint (which for some reason makes me ill). The mint-to-green-tea ratio is perfect here: you get a punch of cooling mint followed by a really interesting green. There are almost no grassy/vegetal notes, and like many gunpowders it has a hint of smokiness that perfectly counterbalances the sharp, strong mint and also has a nice depth of flavor. I do like this hot, but iced and with way too much sugar it’s just… perfect! Thirst-quenching, heat-cooling, lip-smacking delicious.

I love me some Moroccan Mint iced tea. I want to try a couple different ones to see which one I think is best… though I want both peppermint and spearmint. Thanks for the information!

I <3 Moroccan Mint…….but RoT(ten)…not so much. Probably decent iced though.

If you like a stronger mint Dylan, peppermint would be better, IMO.

RoT is pretty hit-or-miss for sure, but the teas of theirs that I like I really enjoy. I feel that way about a lot of the mid-tier vendors, really, but I try not to judge individual teas by my overall impression of the company. I do wish they sold loose-leaf samples so I could try more stuff out, I don’t want to commit to a whole tin unless I am sure I will like it!

Tea has always been a passion of mine, though I got away from it during college. A lack of cupboard space and a constant influx of people into my suite made me pretty much abandon my teas at home. But now that I’m done with school, it’s definitely come back with a vengeance—to the point where I’ve purchased about 65 different kinds in the past 3 months!

I like most kinds of teas—yes, even peach, which I used to think I disliked!. Oolongs are definitely my favorite, and I’m an avid fan of earl grey, floral teas, and chai blends along with anything melon. The only kind of teas on my “no” list are rooibos blends (which gives me headaches) and banana flavored ones since bananas are public enemy #1 in my mind.

The best thing about tea for me is how you can be passionate about it and still have it integrate into all of your other hobbies. I like a lot of things: writing, video games, books, sewing, figure collecting, astronomy… it’s a long list. But whatever I’m doing, I can have a cup of tea in hand!
