Details: Mike has spent many a fine day and a few nights enjoying the charms of Paris. In fact, his wife, Brigitte, is from Paris. So when he got the chance to return the favor, he created this lovely fruity blend. Like the city (and also his wife), it is very complex. However the results are very popular!
Dry Leaves: This complex tea is the blend of three teas, the leaves are black.
Liquor: The liquor is medium to dark brown.
Aroma: This tea smells like an Earl Grey with black currant and vanilla aromas and a hint of caramel.
Caffeine Level: Decaffeinated
Body: This tea has a light body because it is blended with decaffeinated black tea.
Flavors: Similar to the aroma, this tea smells sweet like caramel and has a fruity flavor of black currants. You can also taste a hint of vanilla.
Brewing Time: 4 to 5 minutes
Brewing Temp: 212° F

I only added frothed almond milk and a tiny bit of simple (coconut) syrup, because this one has a pretty sweet scent. Thus far the only latte I’ve had has been with Earl Grey, which went well. This one is also tasty.
Also, I cleaned my infusers today with baking soda and they look brand new.
Oh wow. I’ll just say that this is really, really good. How did I forget this?! I’m not all that familiar with currants. I don’t think I’ve ever actually eaten one, so I can’t say for sure that I can taste them in this blend, but it does taste sweet and fruity. A perfect cup of tea for a nighttime treat.
Flavors: Bergamot, Fruity
My first encounter with the non-decaf version of this was some time ago and judging by my note, I was less impressed than I think I probably should have been. I can’t imagine that a decaf would be better than a straight version, and man, this is really quite something.
The smell in the tin is quite intense — the bergamot gives it a zest-bitter smell that’s intense enough to open the sinuses, and the other flavors sort of wave from a distance. But after steeping, the aroma is more balanced, with some lovely vanilla and caramel notes, as well as berry-ish, raisin-ish smell. The tea is a reddish brown, slightly cloudy color.
And man, is it hitting the spot. I’m not sure whether it’s because I don’t often have black tea at night, or whether it’s because it’s going well with the remnants of my dinner, but it is really delicious. It doesn’t taste faded or papery in the decaf sort of way, either.
It has a richness that is surprising, and the flavor blend has a sweetness that’s kept from being cloying by the bergamot cutting through — the sweetness in turn tamps the zesty bitterness.

This was one of the better decaf teas I’ve tried. It had that perfumed flavor of bergamot, but definitely also the vanilla and brighter citrus flavors backed by a solid, not overly astringent black tea.

OST’s Stash Sale
I’ve tried Harney and Son’s Paris before at a friend’s house, and enjoyed it so when I saw this on the list of teas OST was selling, I had to give it a try. I’m glad I did! I think I oversteeped it since it was just a bit bitter, but it had a lovely floral taste from the bergamot and a slight sweetness. I will definitely enjoy the rest of this tin.
I have two very clogged Finum basket infusers and am wondering if this would work. Do you just soak them in mugs full of water/baking soda?
I have the infusers from David’s, and they are metal. I would recommend soaking them in water with a polident tablet first (I do this for our water bottles or anything that needs a refresh and have done it with my infusers before), then try scrubbing. From what I understand, the Finum is more of a metal mesh and I wouldn’t want to recommend something that might alter the structure!
I soak mine in Oxyclean and they sparkle! Rinse well and then wash with dishsoap.
Thanks! I was worried that whatever I might do could alter the structure of the mesh or do something to the plastic. I might try your Oxyclean solution.
